Publisher's summary

Martin

They say that disasters bring people closer together and, in my experience, that's true. I just didn't expect for the guy who saved me from a wildfire to be the man of my dreams.

I also didn't expect him to have a pair of terrifying dogs - stereotypical dogs! What kind of firefighter actually has dalmatians?!

Still, maybe this is an opportunity. The pet shop isn't happy that I can't deal with the dogs. Maybe, with Lance's help, I can get past my fears. I don't know if I'm ready to open up that much, but it's just so easy to talk to him.

Lance

My life is a bleak, undesirable thing. Trapped in a world of lies, I didn't think that I'd find love in the middle of a blaze.

Now, I just have to find my way out.

Martin is my guiding light. I just hope I keep moving toward it. With a boss who has enough blackmail to condemn me in anyone's eyes, I need all the help I can get.

This novel is full of smoking hot scenes that might leave you needing to call in for assistance. This book should only be listened to by those 18 years and older. Adults only, please.

Lacking reality

Way too vanilla, reality took a big hit with Martin (one of the two make leads, without any mention of him being transgender) becomes pregnant from unprotected sex - the situation becoming the resultant climax of the story.

sexy fire

amazing book. Loved how the firefighter saved him by letting him stay with him. The last chapter made me cry. But there was a happy ending sometime you just need s book to cry over.

Enjoyable

For the most part, I found this book to be enjoyable. The narrator was great. I will say that the story was a little slow to get started, and the resolution of the major conflict was not truly believable; however, if you suspend your disbelief, you will find the story to be an enjoyable listen.

enjoyed it

Did the story keep me engaged: yes
Were there any parts I found annoying: no
Did I feel an emotional connection to the characters: yes
Would I listen to it again: yes

If you go into this book not looking for a completely realistic story line you'll be good.
I enjoy stories of Alpha's who aren't perfect and Omega's who are stronger than they are perceived.
I liked the idea behind Martin working at a pet store but having a dog phobia and not letting it stop him from getting what he wanted.

The plot was interesting and the story flowed well, there was a lot going on for just under six hours! Martin and Lance are great characters and I enjoyed watching their relationship develop.

Corey H Bennson is a new narrator for me, he did a good job of bringing the characters in Starting His Fire to life, and adding to the overall audio experience.

A nice read

I liked the concept of the story and enjoyed the romance quite a bit. The idea of a man who wishes to own a pet store, but it's terribly afraid of dogs is, indeed, original. And having to share a house with two Dalmatians is a true challenge, but one that might help him to get his wish.

But the whole arsonist storyline? That, not so much. I don't want to spoil the story too much, so I'll only say that the end of it is unrealistic and I didn't buy it, at all.

Corey H. Bennson does a good job with the narration

great read

Austin Bates' Starting His Fire is an Mpreg Romance. Lance is a fireman with a dirty secret. Martin is a man who works at a pet store but is debilitating afraid of dogs. When Martin can not go back into his home due to a fire, Lance comes to the rescue and offers his house as temporary lodging for the adorable omega. As they get closer and start to see a future together, secrets threaten to burn them. Lance and Martin are sweet and hot characters with a good love story.

The Story is narrated by Corey H Bennson. Great voicework and recording. Very enjoyable listen.

Amazing Audiobook!

While I haven’t read all of Austin Bates books, this one is definitely the best of the ones I did read. This book is well written and perfectly balanced.
Corey H. Bennson also did an amazing job narrating this book. He made a great book even better by bringing it to life.
This audiobook is definitely worth your time and money!

Unexpected

This story did not go quite how I thought it would from the synopsis or even the beginning and I greatly enjoyed it. Narration was well done also.

When is a Hero not a Hero?

Wildfires in California continue to rage, and they have even overwhelmed the town of Red Bluff.

The fire was completely out of control, and several neighborhoods had to be evacuated. Businesses had closed, too, because of the hazzard.

The fire department has an excellent, trained staff, as well as two Dalmatians who were skilled in tracking and emotional support. The Fire Chief was especially invested in the dogs.

When does our firefighter hero Lance need a hero of his own? When the secrets weighing him down become almost too much to bear. A darling omega with a love of animals, but a fear of dogs, is in the right place at the right time.

Austin Bates fills this story with a lot of background and community. He has characters that are more than what they seem, and life and death situations that are completely believable.

Narrator Corey H Bennson has a wonderful voice to listen to. I hated to turn off the audio for mundane things such as work. This story is a definite reread/listen.
