Publisher's summary

Expressing what you want isn’t selfish, it’s prioritizing yourself. Do you have that habit?

You don’t have to be “nice” to everyone if it means being mean to yourself. Learn to prioritize yourself, and finally do only what you want to do.

The need to please is powerful, but it causes anxiety, stress, and resentment. Time to change your patterns.

Stand Up for Yourself is direct and no-nonsense. That’s because the way you prioritize others and let them stomp all over your boundaries isn’t working, so you need a change. This book teaches you how to reverse these mini-decisions, and internalize the belief that you are worth it, you are valuable, and you deserve it. Because you are, and you do.

Wow

I really needed to hear this. Sometimes the narrator was a little too monotone so my mind would wander. But the overall experience of this book was great. It was exactly what I needed.

A better title would be: BE Selfish or I am #1

I was curious about this book because I honestly believe that there are no such people. So, I listened to this book up to chapter 14. In today's world, as it is, NO ONE pleases people. Maybe, someone who wants to "climb the ladder" or has an ulterior motive. The basic gist that I perceive from the chapters, overall, is to become selfish, be #1, 2 & 3 in your life, and just go about your business favoring yourself ONLY. In reality, no one is going to continuously and forever really and authentically care for you. Everyone is out for themselves and we use each other in one form or another. This is the reality of life. So, people pleasers are next to nothing in this world today.

Lecturing, minimal tools

I enjoy Patrick King's approach to most self help books, and I do like this one I'm more than half way through though and I already am aware of many of these common sense rules of living and simple people skills, but sadly there aren't many tools offered and also after purchasing several of Patrick's books it's frustrating that they do NOT include a PDF Version. As a Teacher and Spiritual Advisor I'd appreciate the visual, and also the option to have some notes. You're great Patrick how's about a PDF File and perhaps you could work on some sort of study guide/ workbook. Many people need recovery in these areas and more applicable ways to ivercome many of the issues and topics you discuss.
