Straightforward, effective and beneficial Breathing practice instruction

Spinal Breathing Pranayama - Journey to Inner Space
By Yogani

I began reading the series of books in the AYP (Advanced Yoga Practice) series. I am listening to the audio versions and have found them to be very engaging. Again, I always enjoy most of all, books read by the author. This author has a very easy style and I enjoyed listening to him.

This book is described as “consisting of practical instructions on one of the most effective breathing techniques for purifying and opening the nervous system to our inner realms.”
This technique of
Spinal Breathing Pranayama is recommended as being a complimentary practice to deep Meditation.
I both enjoyed and appreciated this simple and straightforward breathing practice. I have to say that as a yoga teacher, I thought the instruction provided was very clear and the audio version was very well paced. I think this book reminds me of how the study of yoga is endless. There is always something new to learn or to refine or to go deeper. This book is a great reminder that physical postures (asanas) are only 1 of the 8 limbs of yoga and that there is much to be gained by taking a more balanced approach by incorporating the other limbs, one of which is Pranayama practice.

I have studied and practiced Pranayama exercises and since the reading of this book I’ve been focusing on the recommended (in this book) twice daily spinal breathing practice. I suspect my previous training and experience has helped me, however, I found this short, simple practice to be highly effective. I look forward to it and found it easy to understand from listening to and reading this book. It seems to support my other yoga practices as well. I appreciate how the book encourages a simple, gentle and gradual approach, not an all or nothing very complex approach. The less is more philosophy definitely appealed to me and works for me.
Just wanted to share that anyone wanting to learn a simple yet effective and sustainable pranayama practice as well as gaining a solid understanding of its purpose, would appreciate this book!

Transformational meditation

His reading is a little dry but other than that it is a great book with a lot of good information.
