Outstanding.

Only one word for it, really. A fresh and new and very welcome addition to military science fiction. Welcome to the space leagues, Coasties.

Kick-Ass military SciFi!

Loved this book! Cole shines a spotlight on the USA's most underappreciated branch of the military in a unique military SciFi yarn full of great world-building and a diverse cast of memorable characters. Narrator did a excellent job bringing the story to life. Highly recommend!

Best USCG Book Ever

This books nails the CG’s relationship with the Navy at a practical. I recommend this book to anyone who is innovating in the military right now, but especially in the US Coast Guard, because the pattern is persistent: the USCG has unique authorities like T14 that are required to headline a free and open society, wherever they exist - regardless of how militarized it gets.

good book, awful narrator

Interesting concept, nicely developed
Need a narrator who learns how to pronounce unfamiliar terms, especially nautical ones

Fun story, compelling protagonist, shaky narration, questionable physics

Enjoyed this. Picked it because of armored saint, which I loved. Narration was overall compelling but some pronunciations and accents pulled me out of the story.

Gripping Space Opera with great characters

The Sixteenth Watch grabbed my attention from the first second and left me wanting more. I especially enjoyed that the story is about the US Coast Guard, which made a welcome change from most military science fiction. If you like military sci-fi, pick this one up.

So good!

Be warned, once you pick up this book, you won't be able to put it down. Loved the story. Loved the characters. Loved the dialogue. Kudos, Mr Cole, you did it again. You wrote a thriling story with a believable female hero. Jane Oliver was everything I could have wished for

Decent, not great.

Narration was okay, definitely not great. The universe the story takes place in is very interesting. Unfortunately some of the plot and dialogue are not as good. If you know anything about military rank structure, you would know that the main character, while a very well written character, would be the worst Admiral in history. If they bumped her rank down (way down) it would make a lot more sense. Also, she was the only character written well.

Exciting Space Opera Diminished by Poor Narration

Myke Cole brings undeniable verisimilitude to this Coast Guard in Space action tale. He’s extrapolated a reasonable future involving Moon mining, international tension and inter-service rivalry.

Sadly, the narration by Mia Barron ruins Cole’s story. It may not be her fault. Perhaps she received poor support from the director and producer.

For me, and I suspect many listeners, the space and military jargon is critical. She muffs words like boatswain (bosun), azimuth (AZ-i-mth) and several more. It’s fingernails on the chalkboard that yanks me right out of the story.

This is an evergreen rant for me. Directors, producers, narrators: Do your homework, be prepared, get it right. It’s important.

Another Great Work of Science Fiction

Myke Cole hit another home run of a story. HD my interest from the beginning.
