Agency Protocol Seven

4.25 out of 5 stars

This is one of those books that I started listening to without reading anything about it. I don’t think the description would really throw you off the scent of the storyline too much – but it was also fun going into a mystery/thriller like this without knowing basically anything.

I knew that Brian Callanan was narrating it, and he absolutely nailed both Whitefish and the character of Brad Kelso. I love it when you can feel the narrator becoming the main character in a story. And Callanan really took Kelso to another level with this first book.

The story itself was exciting and really kept my attention. I can’t go into too much for fear of spoiling the story but the setting of this one really set it off for me. I love Alaska and I think the combination of remote with the style of writing really took Whitefish to another level.

Overall, a really enjoyable book featuring a great main character that I definitely want to read more from. Myers did a great job creating enough mystery and intrigue that I was trying to guess throughout (and I wasn’t able to figure it out til near the end). A nice combination of thriller and mystery with a few other genres thrown in for good measure.

"A snuggle of sloths, a sloth of bears."

Twelve years after the murder of his friend, Brad Keller was building a fence for his neighbour when a message arrived from the Agency. His skill as a Pathfinder Tracker was needed - to find his friend's killer believed to be in Alaska. But times have changed since he last worked for the Agency ten years ago and the help he re!did upon was simply not going to happen.

Whitefish is a cleverly constructed story, interesting and, at times, unexpected, with a very human main protagonist telling the story from his first person perspective, bringing an immediacy to the action. Brian Callahan captures this in his excellent narration, becoming Brad Keller as he pretends to be a photographer in his attempts to find his .an. A good performance with excellent pacing, modulation and character voices.

I received a freely gifted complimentary copy of Whitefish, at my request, from the rights holder, via Free Audiobook Codes. Thank you. It was a very enjoyable thriller, and one I can highly recommend.

Manhunt

Emmy-winning TV host, producer, voice-over artist turned audiobook narrator Brian Callanan performs the action thriller Whitefish by Russell Myers with talent, energy and urgency. He perfectly captures the look and feel of the novel, creating an immersive narrative experience for the listener, with different voices and accents for the most important characters. He delivers an intense performance that delights and captivates. This is not my first audiobook with Brian at the mic and I always enjoy his narration. The audio production is very good.

Brad Kelso is pulled out of a quiet retirement, building fences and decks, when his former employer, a government agency, recalls him to active duty in order to hunt down an elusive criminal. But Brad has a more personal reason to exact revenge on this individual and he will follow him even to the wilderness of Alaska!

The writing is good, the action moves fast and the story is interesting. I recommend Whitefish to anyone looking for a good action thriller.

A Real Good Mystery/Murder Story

I liked the Main Character Kelso, he is a interesting personality for working with Government agencies. He has been out of the business for 10 yrs now and the request for him to come work again surprises him.
He has to go to Kodiak, Alaska to try to locate a person belived to be the killer of a close friend of his. Narrator does a good job with the characters voices and the entire storyline of this book.
