A father charged with treason. A daughter sent to kill him. A shocking conspiracy that changes all the rules of the spy game for a new generation....

With more than a dozen kills under her belt, ex-Marine Mara Roberts is one of the Agency's most reliable assassins. He's responsible for the death of Mara's mother. And he happens to be Mara's father....

Scott Roberts knows that his daughter was sent to kill him. He realizes he has only one chance to change her mind, to convince her that he's been framed for treason - and that every member of their family are pawns to be sacrificed, one by one. Mara isn't sure she can trust her father. He is a master of manipulation, as ruthless as he is resourceful. But when her nephew is abducted, she agrees to follow Scott's lead and expose the global elites who are pulling the strings. But first, they must infiltrate the highest levels of power. Then, they must attempt the unthinkable: Kidnap the President of the United States....

Interesting.

So this book was interesting and kept my attention. I don't know that it was great. I really liked the Scott more than I liked Mara.

Mara was somewhat of a whiner to me. Scott had a great personality and was very funny at times.

There were some twists and turns here. Most people will say "I didn't see that coming". I did, from the beginning. Oh well. Regardless, it had some good moments and some eye rolling moments (mostly coming from Mara). It did have some action and intrigue.

I don't know if I would read another book about Mara, but I would totally read a book about Scott.

As for the narration, it was good. I am a fan of Sarah Mollo-Christensen. Who also sounds a lot like someone else.

Spies, Traitors, politicians and Presidents...

Exciting and fast paced, you won’t’ want to put the book down!! There are spies, traitors, politicians and presidents wrapped up in this one. So many twists that keep coming throughout the entire book and you won’t see them coming! The writing, plot, character development and the pace are outstanding. The story centers around the two main characters Scott Roberts the disgraced CIA agent and his daughter Mara the ex-Marine now CIA agent and how they piece together the past. The way this ends, one can hopefully see a series coming.

Very entertaining!

I really enjoyed this book. It’s the second Jeff Gunhus book in my library. Both received 5 stars. The publisher’s summary is very helpful and gives a great overview. The way this family is portrayed and the amount of betrayal and manipulation is choreographed so well. It held my attention and kept me wanting to find out more. The way the book ended it looks to me like this is the start of a series. I certainly hope so and I will definitely be buying it if it is
Sarah Mollo-Christensen does a great job narrating.

Riveting!

Lots of excitement and drama from beginning to end. Enough twists and turns throughout the story to make it hard to put the book down. The ending begs for a sequel, for sure. The only reason I did not rate this with five stars is because of the use of profanity and coarse language in some places

Just wasn't what I was hoping for.

It all just seemed too slow moving for me. I'm sure to some people it will be a great story.
