FUN

I slept on this book in lieu of a few other Mil SF books, and it turns out that was a mistake.

Incredibly vivid action sequences, a mind-blowing story, and VERY memorable characters.

Literally pulls no punches.

Must-read/listen for fans of the genre!

Awesome debut

Shockwave grabbed me from the prologue and held my interest throughout. I enjoy space opera and military sci-fi, so its definitely up my alley. The narration is perfect for this. Can we get him reading more sci-fi or space opera??? He brought each character to life. The action is intense, the plot fast and engaging.

another stunning book from an amazing guy. I especially liked the subtle mentions of Joe & Skippy and Jason & Nick's tagline. can't wait for the next installment.

Hard-Hitting Action on the Darker Side of Heroism

Spires and Brown deliver a great first entry in what promises to be a fast-paced action-packed military sci-fi series with some twists. Come for the hard-core person to person combat, stay for the sarcastic no-holds-barred shattering of the fourth wall. If you like Deadpool, there is an excellent chance you'll love Destota Valentine.

What a Fun ride

Loved it. this is a fun military.......comedy? i get alot of E-4 Mafia vibes from this book. War is never fun, but depending on your attitude, you can get through it alright. this book shows that well. Very interesting concept, Ive never been on the side of the dudes against Earth, but it feels like its headed that way. Keep it up, Mr. Spires! Cant wait to read the next one.

Crazy is as crazy does

If you like stories of transhumanist space marine super soldiers taking on scores of enemies, and narrated by a world-class smart@$$, you'll love this.

Get ready for a roller coaster of awesomeness!

hands down hilarious! great story telling and not a single boring moment. Dead pool meets starship troopers.....you'll be laughing your ass off the whole time.

Space meets G.I. Joe

First off this is a very alpha male-centric story. That's not a critique, just an observation. If you're looking for a book where your beta male, dungeon master nerd sweeps in to save the day...these are not the books you're looking for.
If you like fast paced action, a hyper strong alpha male lead, AND strong women kicking ass...you have stumbled onto a hidden gem.
I liked the book through most of it, but struggled a bit to see the main characters motivation. Then BAM! Right at the final chapters the author pierced my heart and really sucked me in emotionally.

My only critiques:
The main character is often immature, but then I remember that he is very young.
I have a hard time believing that a civilization 6000 years in the future will still be referencing Jurassic Park and G.I. Joe.
I wanted more character development of all the main players.

Overall I enjoyed the book and the narrator, and am looking forward to the other books in this series.

Another irreverent, fun, action packed adventure from Jeremy and Garrett. I recommend diving in and enjoying.

This was a good book but it wasn't really my style. I like sci-fi but I am not a huge fan of military type books. The idea was great and the characters were well laid out. The world was interesting and different and I liked the narration in this book.

Overall, a great book but just my personal preference
