Such a lovely story.
I am such a fan of D.B. Reynolds writing. This is another wonderful story. The take on this shifter from other shifter stories.
As always her characters are intriguing and you get drawn into their lives.
I am looking forward to the next book in this series.

Different Change of Pace!
I thought this was a decent book!
I've read a number of shifter romance books and this is a unique take on it. This is one of the few times I was proven how strong and capable the female lead was. So yay!
However, I would say I felt like this book was more futuristic-survivalist book with romance than a sci-fi romance. The female lead preparations for her trial and execution was more detail oriented compared to other books and added to the overall realism. As a result I felt romance progression lagged. It left me with a lukewarm HEA if not a satisfying one.

Very Good
I loved the combination of sci-fi space and fantasy shifter. I was surprised that I enjoyed the ‘survival in the wilds’ scenes so much. That kind of fiction is not usually my cup of tea, but I spent the whole time rooting for Rodrey and Amanda to succeed despite the bad guys efforts. I wasn’t too sure about Mr. Tulin’s performance at first but came to thoroughly enjoy it.

Loved how strong Amanda was so smart and brave, refreshing to read a story were the man is saved by a kick ass woman! Loved the world building and the tree aspect.
