Publisher's summary

Aegis woke up with the powers of a god. But what good is that if the one person he cares for is stuck in another world?

Sickly and starved back home, Aegis is stripped of his memory when transported to the magical land of Strathmar. His new body aches as he arises as a noob warrior lost and confused. Though one thing is certain…an uncanny strength flows through him like never before.

With a shield as his weapon and a bleeding heart as his curse, Aegis starts his journey by taking beatings that no man ever should to protect those in need. After learning to use his ice infusion, imbuing his own weapons and those of his fool hardy friends to slash through high-level monsters, others start to notice something special about him: Aegis can perform abilities beyond his character’s level.

But when he finds out his brother Roy is sick and dying in the world he left behind, he must find the will of a leader and do all that he can to save him.

Will he find a way to connect with his family and bridge two worlds? Or will he fail, doomed to a fate worse than death?

Great character bonding

Often times in my life when sitting around a table playing board games, card games, or TTRPGs like Dungeons and Dragons it becomes less about the game infront of me, and more about the time I spent with other players bonding. I had very similar experiences during my time online gaming, especially MMORPGs, where it becomes less about the "game" and becomes about shooting the breeze in group/voice chat. I often remember those true bonding experience between me and the people I'm grouped with more than my biggest competitive accomplishments.

This story captures the social bonding aspect and the sense of community you feel when partaking in this fantasy, and it makes the characters to me feel relatable and likable, but its the narration that brings it together. Maintaining a serious and fantastical tone while also nailing the verbalization of the comraderie found by the ragtag group of protagonist and allies.

I would highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys things like ttrpg, mmorpgs, or even animes like Sword Art Online as it won't feel too much different than your own experiences.

fantastic

this was a great book I really enjoyed the story. I look forward to more in the series. once again Heath Miller knocks it out of the park with his voice work.

exceptional start. looking forward to more

found this because of heath miller who is just an exceptional narrator. I was very pleasantly surprised at the joy I got from the characters and the world. it references the world like an litrpg but it doesn't forget to tell a good story.

Fun book

I enjoyed the story, there are some stuff that don’t make much sense and just feel like dystopian just to be dystopian but I believe the author will clear it up
Also I knew it

Different type of Story

This LITRPG I picked up because it was narrated by Heath Miller and honestly Heath is one of the better Narrators I've listened to. The story isn't bad by any means but it's slow to get going and really there isn't much back story to it other than it seems like earth is in some form of post apocalyptic state? IT's never really explained. I'm looking forward to the next books as I believe the AUthor will continue to build and improve

I liked them loved this story

It starts and ends with no clear high lvl it’s all prospective of low levels (example 10 is crazy high to a 2 but 10 over all ain’t shit) that are strong together beating higher lvls main character nocks boots with love interest fairly early on (fuck that will they won’t they BS) all main characters have unique personalities and are discovered with a realism I respect.
The story starts off slowly piecing together with interesting interactions that all pay off building and leading to climaxes there’s kind of multiple main ones by the end and they all get a solution I liked and the real world relationship discovery I kinda love. Worth it can’t wait for more like it!

Worth the Credit

Its a solid story in the LitRPG genre but probably won't take many number one spot. The characters are all likable and the pacing was quick without feeling rushed. My biggest complaint would be the cringe dialogue. Its not that bad and the relationships the party have with each other seems more genuine than a lot of books I've read, but you may find it better or worse than I did. Like I said its definitely worth the credit if not for the narration alone. Heath Miller is the best! I'll be looking forward to the next title in the series.

Great book very entertaining

Great characters they are interesting and you learn enough about them without getting boring. The story is intriguing and keeps you thinking. The love interest is good without getting to graphic overall I highly recommend this book.
