Great read from start to finish

Witty author, many unexpected turns in the plot, and kept my interest from start to finish. Joshua Story’s reading for the audiobook was perfect, spot on, entertaining, and intriguing throughout. Now we just need this series to be a motion picture!!

Great ideas, refreshing immersive storyline

Loved the storyline, awesome imagination to be found here. Voice actors were lackluster and seemed forced

MINERALS ARE GOOD FOR YOU!

A very interesting magic system that is very VERY COOL! I am impressed with the story. I really enjoyed listening and I am excited to move on to the next installment. There is a certain amount of childish story telling with the fact that everyone seems to come through without dying, in the end. And it does take a while before you realize who is really the bad guys and who are not. Some real twists and turns. Well done!

Big magic, big adventure? Humor?

The entire book only covered events over the course of a few days and only centered around a small town and it's valley. There's not much aventure to it. The concept of the magic was pretty cool - although it was extremely confusing and annoying to get snippets of how the magic works throughout the book. It's still not fully explained by the end. Hopefully book 2 will cover it. It had light-hearted humor that wasn't terrible but it wasn't my type of humor. I let out a chuckle or two but that was it. The main character was hard to relate to especially when he's confused about everything until the end.

so slow

fair warning, you are in for a long slow burn with this book. i understand the need to build the world and such, but I'm hoping the second book is better.

YES.

This book is amazing! It's been a favorite of mine for years, and hearing it again in this new voice adds a whole nother level of awesome. The narrator is fantastic, unerringly true to character voices, mingling the epicness of the story with the innate humor of these characters. In short? Read it!!

New story.

I like the story very much because it was different than many of the other stories I have read. The Reader was great except the female voices sounded very similar. Everything else was great. The story is one I want to read to the end!

Great book

Had to fast forward through some of that teen angst in the begging, and then where it was sprinkled in through the story, but over all it’s a great book and I can’t wait to read the rest of the series

waist of money

I have never left a bad review if I don't like it I just don't finish it. This is just bad. I have known stupid people before but making the MC's best friend that dumb is beyond the suspension of disbelief! couldn't get past chapter 9. Narrator was awesome though.

Can't enjoy a story with illiterate narrators

I'm sorry, but I'm done with narrators who don't bother to take 30 seconds to look up pronunciation of words they're unfamiliar with. The p is silent in coup. This is not an obscure word. If this is happening in the first few chapters, it will likely continue.
