Publisher's summary

In her latest book, The Universe Has Your Back, New York Times best-selling author Gabrielle Bernstein teaches listeners how to transform their fear into faith in order to live a divinely guided life. Each story and lesson in the book guides listeners to release the blocks to what they most long for: happiness, security, and clear direction. The lessons help listeners relinquish the need to control so they can relax into a sense of certainty and freedom. Listeners will learn to stop chasing life and truly live. Making the shift from fear to faith will give listeners a sense of power in a world that all too often makes them feel utterly powerless. When the tragedies of the world seem overwhelming, this book will help guide them back to their true power.

Gabrielle says, "My commitment with this book is to wake up as many people as possible to their connection to faith and joy. In that connection, we can be guided to our true purpose: to be love and spread love. These words can no longer be cute buzz phrases that we merely post on social media. Rather, these words must be our mission. The happiness, safety, and security we long for lies in our commitment to love."

When listeners follow this path, they'll begin to feel a swell of energy move through them. They will find strength when they are down, synchronicity and support when they're lost, safety in the face of uncertainty, and joy when they are otherwise in pain. Follow the secrets revealed in this book to unleash the presence of your power and know always that the universe has your back.

Keep Forgetting You're Not All Alone?

I'd hit a brick wall, going about 180 mph. Three neighbors moved out, with all that noise, clamoring, moving vans, hustle. There were raccoons in the attic. The landlords decided that NOW would be a great time to fix up the places, complete with industrial tools, laughing, trucks, mayhem. It's still going on, and I work nights, so I'm completely sleep-deprived. And have a short fuse, am liable to burst into tears if you look at me cross-eyed. Oh, and then the raccoons decided that IN the walls was where they really wanted to be. Given that sleep is on the most basic of Maslow's hierarchy of needs, self-actualization and "The Universe" seemed like pie in the sky concepts.
But I was desperate so, despite its verrrry short content time, I gave "The Universe Has Your Back" a chance.
Holy cow, am I so glad I did!
Here you'll find the Holy Moment, living with certainty, and my favorite: a 24-hour challenge to yourself to find the love and live miracles.
Once I stopped whining about how very tired I was and devoted myself to looking for the good things, the things that were going right, once I decided to stop snapping at my husband and start letting him in, the miraculous happened:
I. Was. Happy.
Even the overnight security guard said I was *glowing*. Yes, that word, and trust me, I felt it.
Are you stuck? Do you judge other people, judge yourself, harshly? Is fear something that you just can't seem to let go of?
Give this book a try. You'll find more than mindfulness/meditation suggestions. You'll receive guidelines, exercises, mantras, that you can hold onto, no matter how desperate you feel. And Gabby is so incredibly human. At a spiritual retreat, when asked: What Do You Want? She says she wants a snack, a nap, no, coffee would be nice. Whom amongst us is not taken down by the everyday harshness of life, fatigue, hesitation?
Worth the time, worth the credit. And by the way? You're worth it too...!

Spiritually shallow

This is a perfect example of spiritual materialism at its most shallow. What frustrates me about this type of work is that there is limited understanding of "negative" and "positive" which has a lot of ego agenda in it. With law of attraction type work there is always this assumption that if shitty things happen then you can make the bad feelings go away by using your mind to see it differently and attract only "awesome" positive things into your life. That bypasses deep inner capacity to be with a whole spectrum of life experience. If anyone is truly searching for spiritual transformation I would recommend the work of AH Almass and the Diamond Approach which is beautiful work along the lines of inner capacity to be with what is rather than trying to manipulate. Best of luck on your Journey.

Ugggggghhhhh.

I have never left a review this harsh about anything in my life, but I felt so scammed, I just could t help myself. I have been completely inspired by the likes of Carolyn Myss, Louise Hay, Deepak Choprah and Gary Zukav. And I literally HATED this book. Every word, every insinuation. Besides the fact that Gabby's voice is like nails on a chalk board in its inauthenticity, she is quite literally regurgitating everything everyone who has ever come before her has said (they said it with more authenticity, wisdom, and humility). There's not one original thought in this book besides her personal accounts which are dripping with a really awkward self-serving arrogance that I just couldn't overcome. She had my skin crawling. Ewh. The very best (and only redeeming) quality about this book is the title and the pretty woman on the cover. Zero depth. If you don't want to learn from the masters, you can listen to this for a watered-down stoner cliff notes version. I hope no one pays to hear his woman speak. God help us. And if Audible offered refunds, I'd be all in.

This is a good reminder book

This book will teach you why you need to trust your intuition and guidance which comes from the higher guidance here called the Universe. The author talks about all the reasons why you need to listen to your guides, how they will help you and why you need to listen to them. Remember you may want something so much you push against a wall until you realize you need to flow. Being in flow will move you along your path faster than you can believe!

Rehash of other her other books

The content is good, but if you have read her past books and watched any of her lectures you will hear the same content. For example, the owl symbol story is used here yet again. It was disappointing.

Not what i expected

The book talked more about her greatness then anything else. I felt annoyed while reading.

Time for a Shift

This book showed up for me right before the 2016 Presidential Election. Instead of dwelling on the outcome post election, I found myself excited for possibility in creating more light and love, being a stand for others, gaining a new sense of empowerment to make a bigger impact. The lessons and prayers offered by Gabby in this book gave me access to a new way of being, leading with love, joy and faith in the Universe. I am confident and ready to step up to my higher calling as a leader and a teacher.

A waste of time

Here goes my honest review.

I listened to this book after a youtube recommendation.
This book is only for those who are deep into esoterics. For me there's too much: "spirit", "feelings", "energy", "universe", "love". Which in itself might not be a bad thing, but it might be too much for even those who enjoyed listening to "The Secret: Law of Attraction". It really feels like listening to a person who is out of touch with reality. And the style is not witty either (that would have made the message more palatable). Mostly it's just listening to tedious sobbing stories of how this woman fears everything, goes through emotional roller coasters and then meditates and "feels a spiritual connection with the universe" and "cosmic love". The book starts with a story of an emotional meltdown she experienced in 2015...and how she's been better since, now that she has unlocked the "wisdom of meditation." But can you really trust advice that comes from such recent experience? To me this is refund material, because the style and the story are incredibly boring, and although the author gives recipes for prayer and meditation, they didn't speak to me so I got no practical takeaway.

Would not recommend to anyone I know.

Annoying to listen

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

Someone who does not read a lot on the subject of spirituality or meditation.

What was most disappointing about Gabrielle Bernstein’s story?

A lot of coincidences and miraculous events in her life. I am not sure if she just saw thinks in new light or something great actually happened?

How did the narrator detract from the book?

The narrator sounded just right for the plot. The story goes a little bit like "the girl looses a boyfriend and great job in one day, so she decides to travels around the world and she quickly finds a knight in foreign country. They get married even though parents disapprove."

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Disappointment

Nothing new

This book was unfortunately a rehash of every other book on this topic. Nothing
new here except self promotion about how fabulous the author is. If you're looking for something to grow from - this is not the book. I wish I could get a refund I couldn't even finish listening to it.
