Publisher's summary

Deepak Chopra, Debbie Ford, and Marianne Williamson - New York Times best-selling authors and internationally acclaimed teachers - have joined together to share their knowledge on one of the most crucial obstacles to happiness we face: the shadow. These three luminaries, each with a signature approach, bring to light the parts of ourselves we deny but that still direct our life. For it is only when we embrace our shadow that we discover the gifts of our authentic nature.

The shadow exists within all of us. It is a part of us and yet we spend most of our life running from it. But far from being scary, our dark side holds the promise of a better, more fulfilling life. Our shadow makes itself known every day. It is the reason we get furious over a friend showing up 10 minutes late, yell at our parents or kids when they have done nothing wrong, and sabotage our own success at the worst possible time. Until we are able to embrace our dualistic nature, we will continue to hurt ourselves and those closest to us and fall short of our potential.

Combining the wisdom of three experts, The Shadow Effect is a practical and profound guide to discovering the gifts of our shadow. These three authors powerfully pierce the veil of our unclaimed self, releasing us from the past and propelling us on a journey to wholeness. No longer living a half life, we are capable of achieving our dreams and reclaiming the happiness that is our birthright.

Marianne Williamson is a queen

I learned so much about myself and humanity form this book. We all have a shadow. I’m grateful for Marianne’s insight into how to invite the light into our worlds to integrate the shadow.

Only two thirds good

I find that the information given by Ms. Williamson greatly contradicts the information given by Chopra and Ford. Integrate the Shadow or Eliminate it?

Powerful truths to healing self

So many nuggets captured. The words and points of view are so perfectly crafted. Conveying the depths of worldly misunderstandings into such a beautiful way to understanding the darkness and negative feelings that lurk within us. Exposing these truths is the way to bliss, the choice is up to the reader of the free will one chooses. You can’t unhear this message. This book is certainly on repeat and will be revisited several times. Let our light shine and so much gratitude for the light and energy that went in to this piece of art.

Personally Helpful

This book is full of helpful insights related to the "dark side" or "the shadow" we all have. In the first section of the book Deepok Chopra defines the shadow and places it in psychological/sociological context. In later sections Marianne Williamson and Debbie Ford contribute insights from their points of view. All of the sections have made me stop, think, and make application to my own daily life.

Specifically, Chopra includes a discussion of projection in the first section. He defines it clearly, gives specific examples, and details how one can avoid the pitfalls associated with projection. I found that portion of the book most practical and helpful.

I have not accepted Chopra's point of view, but find insights in each of his books which I can use in my own daily life. The inclusion of Williamson and Ford in this book works well.

Written and read by the authors, this volume is worth consideration.
