Based on his most popular sermon series, New York Times best-selling author Timothy Keller delivers an extraordinarily insightful look at the keys to happiness in marriage.
Few subjects are as compelling-or as endlessly variable-as love and marriage. The Bible is filled with references to husbands and wives, from the story of Adam and Eve to advice in the New Testament, each open to interpretation.
In The Meaning of Marriage, Timothy Keller, pastor of New York's Redeemer Presbyterian Church and bestselling author of The Reason for God, uses the scriptures as his guide to show readers what God's call to marriage is, and why this is such a powerful call. He talks in frank terms about the difficulties that couples have and how they can best work them out while keeping their faith in God intact.
The Meaning of Marriage showcases Keller's vast understanding of the Bible and how it can not only be relevant to relationships today but also form the foundation of a modern, healthy, loving, and long- lasting marriage.

Gets 5 stars bc this is a great contemporary approach to godly marriage. It will challenge already established marriages looking for growth, and it will help greatly newly married couples looking to build on a solid marriage foundation.
Nobody should get married without first reading this book. It is the definitive volume on Christian marriage, outside of the Bible. The writing is excellent and the audio performance is equally excellent.
Whether you are engaged, newly married or in a marriage that has stood the test of time, this is a tremendous read. It should be mandatory reading for any couple in marriage counseling.
this book offers a deep and rich biblical perspective as well as practical advice and wisdom on marriage. the special friendship and cooperation that takes place between these two children of God is amazing and complicated and sticky and beautiful. well done Kellers.
Very well-narrated. Tim Keller really helps put marriage into perspective from God's point of view, separating the current modern culture POV and assumptions or even the traditional Christian POV from that of God.
This is the best book on marriage from a biblical perspective written in our generation. If every person who was going to get married or who is already married would read this book and take its teachings to heart there would be a great increase in good marriages and a great decrease in painful divorces, with an overall result of a more healthy society in every area of life.
this books has deeply challenged my views on marriage, relationship and even singleness.. great eye opener. the best book on marriage i have read so far.
Useful, insightful read for married and single people alike. Provides a great Biblical perspective on what marriage is, what it means, and how it should practically be lived out (or appreciated if one decides not to marry).
the author does a great job of going through the complexities of marriage from a conservative Bible loving perspective.
having been divorced (no fault of the author) and remarried (thanks to the author), I've read this book before and during each marriage, never ceases to amaze hope the book comes more alive reach time.
there even is a great section on dating that he briefly goes over as well as understanding God's design for this sacred union. He doesn't shy away from taboo topics such as woman's roles (authored by his wife) and sex. i appreciated their vulnerability in sharing their life on both.
highly recommended for those who are single and not even dating, to those married as well as relational stages between. definitely a treasure to reread over and over, alone, together with your spouse, or in a book club.
