The Best Yes: Making Wise Decisions in the Midst of Endless Demands | [Lysa TerKeurst]

The Best Yes: Making Wise Decisions in the Midst of Endless Demands

Learn to find and play the role God wants most for you to play, not the ones you feel pressured into playing for the sake of others or even our sense of accomplishment and worth. Most of us spend a lot of our lives figuring out when to say yes and when to say no. How to manage our time, reduce stress, do our best for our families, find a little space for "me". But we don't find space for our souls until we learn to step past the yes and no of daily decisions and seek a third option: the best yes. The best yes is the choice that shapes all our other choices.

It's what allows us to play our necessary parts in God's plan, to spend our energy and focus our passion on the assignments that really are ours.

How do we learn to say that best yes? It requires honesty. Imagination. Attention. Trust. Humility. Practice - lots of practice. And wisdom. The best yes is really all about wisdom - learning to make truly wise decisions. And that's the heart of this book. "I want us to become powerfully effective decision makers," writes Lysa Terkeurst. "Because then we will live powerfully effective lives. And spend our souls doing powerfully effective work to the glory of God." With her signature mix of transparency, Scripture-laced insight, and "been there" humor, she suggests usable strategies for choosing wisely and encourages us all to shout and whisper our own best yes to life, day by decision-making day.

"The Best Yes is God's plan our my life!"
Would you listen to The Best Yes again? Why?

I love Lysa's heart. She is so transparent and relatable. I want to be "one wise woman" as mentioned in the scriptures as l face decisions. Our decisions and choices lead us to our circumstances, consequences and to Christ's plans for us. We just need to listen. Lysa shares ways to determine what decisions are best in our lives. We all have made good choices and not so good choices, but Lysa helps us to find the Best Yes answers so we will not lived overwhelmed all the time. I loved the book and loved listening to it on Audible. I do wish however, Lysa had read it herself. But it was great!

    "Exactly what I needed"

I loved this book. I will be listening to this book multiple times until I get it. Lysa seemed to know exactly what I struggle with. The words of this book normalized my feelings about saying yes and the struggle that ensured when I desired to do "the right thing". It has been a true blessing to me. I love that she even gives practical steps to consider when making a decision.

"A talk with a best girlfriend"

The book comes with helpful advice. Teurkerst's writing style is like girlfriend talk which is pleasing to the ear. I like her use of scripture. The book teaches common sense and didn't really bring my thoughts to a deep level. It was also a bit repetitive within the chapters. Overall it was a good book,
    but not superior.

"Sweet Encouragement and Wisdom in bite-size pieces"

The narrator was delightful and sounded a lot like Lisa!

Another great and helpful book from Lisa Terkhurst. She delivers practical, Biblical wisdom you can turn right around and apply in your life in a sweet, touching and humorous way.

I feel like I've sat down with a trusted, wise friend and received wisdom and laughter. She helped me understand it's ok to say no, important to say yes to the right things and why and how to decide which one based on on Scripture. I always come away from her books feeling I've grown in the process.
    Thank you!!!

    "Narrator was too dramatic"

The content of the book was good, but the way the narrator read the book was too dramatic. I couldn't stand the long pauses and ended up listening to it at 1.25 or 1.5 speeds.

The Best Yes has some great ideas and would be very relevant for many. I felt some portions spoke right to me, while other sections pertained to people I know. It could have been shortened a bit with fewer stories and comments like nani nani boo boo. Overall a good book.
