Pema Rocks!

Pema Chodron's books are always eye openers. I especially enjoy those she narrates, herself. She comes across as very genuinely kind and compassionate and completely human.

Peaceful Mind Ruffled Rooster

As always I start out listening in quick mode , and end up soothed by Pema Chödrön voice to the point of calm. I love listening to her heart felt sometimes comical descriptive voice . I feel like I get it , I get what she’s explaining. This is a great way to start my day, for I am a ruffled rooster first until My souls been fed. Thank you P.C.

Perfect for In-home Study

I found this audio book was best listened to at home when I had the time to participate in the meditations. I would recommend it to people who are starting out in Buddhism and who would like to set up a regular meditation and study session at home, or for those who have restricted access to a Buddhist community.

Slow and steady

The book is like many Buddhist bookstore: powerful but slow. It carefully lays out ideas and guides you.

don't expect a quick fix: expect guidance. I've re listened to this about 10 times and get something new out of it each time.

If you are truly a beginner, try Jack Kornfield's Buddhism for Beginners. That is a bit more conversational and a better "intro". Don't let "beginner mislead you... It doesn't dumb things down at all.

Back to Pema, she lays out how to develop compassion, loving kindness, and other qualities. Each takes about 40-80 minutes to explore.

I listen to this before I go to sleep.

good stuff

This is the second Chodrin audio I purchased. Insightful and very practical. Even for a non Buddhist she offered helpful insight into meditation practice.

pema chodron, a great soul

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

yes- for those interested in buddhist thought and how it applies to our day to day lives, any and all of pema chodron's books are great

What was one of the most memorable moments of Noble Heart?

loved it all

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

I wish someone would do a lengthy documentary on pema - all her teachings are about compassion, forgiveness, the daily stumbling through life we all do. Maybe call it 'Living in the Material World?' (oops - I guess Madonna's got that title)

Any additional comments?

Love Pema's gentle down to earth and humorous teaching - she is a rare jewel.

Abyssmal

I am an avid reader and listener of lectures, information, historical precedents and things of this nature. This was the single worst book I ever bought from Audible. It is mind-numbing with monotony, which by itself could theoretically invoke meditation, but this is the lecture. There are countless better books, writers and narrators.
I mean no disrespect to any other reviewers who rated this title favorably and I hope they continue to receive a benefit from it. Please reconisder a dozen times before wasting a credit on this. There are countless great books here in every genre, I wouldn't impose this on anyone.

Ceaseless musings distract from actual meditation. This is not a book to learn meditation, it is not a book if you enjoy guided meditation, in fact, this is not a book; it is a disorganized aggregate of under or entirely undeveloped points delivered in a monotone, lifeless presentation.
