Near perfect message, imperfectly delivered.

There is great wisdom in the AA Big Book. I encourage anyone interested in AA or any other 12th step program to listen to it (as well as read it). In truth, I must agree with some of the criticisms of the reader, who sounds a bit like a radio advertisement at times. But you can get used to it and just listen to the content. Do not deprive yourself of the insights of this book simply because the reader is not ideal - accept the imperfect reading and gain the wisdom the book provides.

AA as a Religion

Coming from a person who does not drink and have no history of Alcoholism, I found the Big Book to be interesting because we all know someone that always have a few too many. After reading this book, I now understand why people go to meetings and talk about their addiction openly.

AA is a religion that someone practice to find the truth and to keep on the path of sobriety.

Unlike Christianity and other religions, Alcoholics Anonymous have more devoted followers, because it is a lifestyle that one choose to keep and they more dedicated in trying to remain clean, by going to meetings, than paying tithes to a church. Most people who concur their addictions, wants to sponsor others to defeat their battles and making a lifelong friendship with a common ground.

On a personal note, I have friends that attend meetings on a weekly or daily bases and because of them, I wanted to know more about the Big Book. If you are reading this book and don't have a drinking problem, read this book as many short stories on one main theme.

The narrator is pretty bad. He seems like a telemarketer or an auctioneer, talking very loud in your ears.

great book

I've been sober for over eight years now, and it's all thanks to the principles set forth in this book. I appreciate it being made into an audiobook, as it helps to hear the words while I'm going about my day.

Inspired text for the alcoholic.

Necessary but not pleasurable reading for the recovering alcoholic. Listening to this book was my first step in getting sober 6 years ago.

A classic & vital book is now available!

This book is a valuable "MUST READ" for anyone (or, anyone who knows someone) who suffers from, or questions that they may have a "problem" with alcoholism or addiction problems. This is the "Bible" and the tenets are the basis of any 12-step Recovery program. It is a classic that has remained relevant over decades. My son is in the program (AA, Cocaine Anonymous), and I am active in our local Families Anonymous. This book is valuable reading that does not get old, no matter how many times I've read and/or listened to it. Thank you Audible.com for adding this selection!

Fast, easy listen, and short, GET THIS BOOK!!!

I have been in AA for 30months (with a sponsor and 100% sober) but absolutely hate to pick up a book and read because I get headaches when I read. (because of this I have never completed reading the AA "big book"

I am doing fantastic with my program and these girls keep asking me to sponsor them but I did not want to because even though my life is so much more "happy, joyous, and free" I felt unqualified to sponsor in AA if I had never complete the "big book".

This is the most wonderful gift!!!! (I did realize that I had heard most everything covered in rehab and meetings, but it was still very important for me to get this audio) I can't wait until they get the most new version on audio!
