Publisher's summary

Ex·cí·to·tox·in: a substance added to foods and beverages that literally stimulates neurons to death, causing brain damage of varying degrees. Can be found in such ingredients as monosodium glutamate, aspartame (NutraSweet®), cysteine, hydrolyzed protein, and aspartic acid.

Citing over five hundred scientific studies, Excitotoxins explores the dangers of aspartame, MSG, and other substances added to our food. This is an electrifying and important book that should be available to every American consumer.

Critic reviews

“Detailed and well-researched, yet is written in such a fashion the nonmedical person will come away with a good understanding of the subject.” ( Medical Sentinel)

A great book

This is a great book and has a ton of information on the awful nutrition that plagues the west. I recommend it.

This book was way ahead of it's time.

Excellent book! A cross between a reference book (so much useful information) and an expose report. It's rather sad that we didn't heed any of the warnings. This book was written many years ago, yet almost every prepared product, side dish, cereal, spice, sauce packet, and even gummy vitamins I pick up in the past week has, at the very least, "natural flavorings." Remember we let this happen. :(

Long, boring lecture on MSG

I enjoyed the connection between starvation on a Pacific island during WWII which caused poor preparation of a staple crop, which caused the severe symptoms of ALS. I also found useful a few other connections. None of it got me to the end.

I did finish, but only because I used this audio to fall asleep many times. That had nothing to do with the narrator. The author went on for twelve hours about MSG, it's toxic affects, and how diet foods are poisioning our children. With that point, I agree. I do not need to be told the same thing ten different ways, however.

Excellent recap of the research

Dr. Blaylock always does such a good job of explaining what the research actually says.

Only read if you are logical.

In order of importance; All the ancient copies of the Bible, Excitotoxins the taste that kills, The Cholesterol Conspiracy, Replacing Darwin, Traced, Cold Case Christianity, and the Case for Christ. Not that other amazing books don't exist, but I don't have all night. Get ready to take important notes. Can't recommend it enough, Dr Blaylock saved my health/life.

MSG, Aspartame and similar substances haven’t gotten any better for health since this books was published.

Everyone should listen to this information, but especially those who are or who care for “traumatic brain injured” individuals.
