Publisher's summary

The masterpiece that started Terry Goodkind's New York Times bestselling epic Sword of Truth

In the aftermath of the brutal murder of his father, a mysterious woman, Kahlan Amnell, appears in Richard Cypher's forest sanctuary seeking help...and more. His world, his very beliefs, are shattered when ancient debts come due with thundering violence.

In a dark age it takes courage to live, and more than mere courage to challenge those who hold dominion, Richard and Kahlan must take up that challenge or become the next victims. Beyond awaits a bewitching land where even the best of their hearts could betray them. Yet, Richard fears nothing so much as what secrets his sword might reveal about his own soul. Falling in love would destroy them - for reasons Richard can't imagine and Kahlan dare not say.

In their darkest hour, hunted relentlessly, tormented by treachery and loss, Kahlan calls upon Richard to reach beyond his sword - to invoke within himself something more noble. Neither knows that the rules of battle have just changed...or that their time has run out.

Wizard's First Rule is the beginning. One book. One Rule. Witness the birth of a legend.

Love the Story - Narrator makes it come Alive

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes I have already recommended this book, it is a great adventure. The narrator pulls you in, and weaves you through the different characters personalities.

I was looking forward to Book 2, 3, 5 and more, but the narrators are all different.

Book 1, The Omen Machine, Book 10 and 11 are probably the only ones we will be getting out of this series. Sam Tsoutsouvas has spoiled my husband and I. His resonating voice has drawn the 'picture' of the characters.

No reflection on the other narrators, and NO I do not know Sam Tsoutsouvas. The narrators voices, on all the stories we listen to, are what envelope and propels us through the different adventure and we become addicted.

Which character – as performed by Sam Tsoutsouvas – was your favorite?

Zedd, the Wizard

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Truth Seeker

A book I have enjoyed many times.

I have read this book many times throughout my life. The narrator did it justice and brought some of the characters to life in ways that were more entertaining than I had imagined before listening.

one of best books of all time

This is by far one of my favorite authors and Richard is a character you quickly fall in love with. The narrator has a voice meant for a story like this. I've listened to and read this story countless times and will probably read it again soon! One of the only books I like better is Faith of the Fallen, which is book 6 in this series.

Legend of the Seeker is a good, this is great!

Would you listen to Wizard's First Rule again? Why?

Definately will listen again. Classic good vs. evil with awesome characters.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Hard choice between Confessor Kahlin & The Morde Sith...Mistress Dena.
Dena begins life innocent like we all do, then life takes a turn for the worse, but in the end, even she finds good.
Kahlin appears soft & fragile but has an awesome power & pure spirit.

Which character – as performed by Sam Tsoutsouvas – was your favorite?

Zedicus Zool Zerander...too funny.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Seek & ye shall find!

Excellent

A gripping tale I thoroughly enjoyed! I never wanted to stop listening to the tale. A few days for 30 plus hours of riveting enjoyment.

I believe this is a book for those who love adventure and the places it takes them. And what would an adventure be without superb characters to love and loathe.

Fantastic! Brilliant! Wonderful!

I never thought I'd enjoy an audio novel, but I was wrong. The voice actor is simply amazing. I knew who he was referring to just by the changes in his voice and they were flawless every time.

One of the best books I have ever read.

This book was amazing, so good in fact that I spent my next 2 credits on the next 2 books. But I think that the it goes down hill from book 1. Some characters introduced in the 1st book are almost forgotten "Rachel & Chase" in the next 2 books.

Awesome!

I really liked this book, I couldn't stop listening to it. In fact, it was quite distracting from other things I needed to do. But it was definitely worth it!
