Publisher's summary

From apocalypse…

An act of terrorism unleashed an unspeakable biological weapon…and hell on earth. But as the masses felled by a hideous virus rose from the dead to prey on the living, a small band of survivors defied death and its ghastly spawn - determined to outrun the world’s end, and somehow begin again.

To Armageddon…

But beyond the undead-besieged shores of Europe lies something closer to damnation than salvation. Rescued from certain death at sea, the young Spanish lawyer, the beautiful woman he loves, and his brash, battle-hardened best friend - who have weathered the worst of the unnatural disaster - find themselves delivered from a world of horror into a stronghold of hate. In a United States ravaged by the Zombie plague and overrun by the undead, only Gulfport, Mississippi, offers sanctuary…for a price: Subservience to a fascist dictator and his brutal enforcers. But their reign of terror will soon be challenged. By rebels hungry for vengeance, and invaders bent on conquest.

Brilliant

I just finished Wrath of the Just. Together, the three books in the series add up to one of the very best of apocalypse storytelling I have ever heard (Audible format). Congratulations to Manuel, Pamela, and Nick.

Lucullis is Battle Scarred !

If you could sum up The Wrath of the Just in three words, what would they be?

Fantastic Wrap Up !

What other book might you compare The Wrath of the Just to and why?

there is NO comparison

What does Nick Podehl bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Nick has a great way of bringing the atmosphere of the situation right into your head

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When the Donkey shows UP !

Any additional comments?

Loved this Series, I agree with earlier review, it's nice when a series can wrap up in a few books.

Must read

Book one was very slow but was necessary for book two and book three to be as good as they were. This one also had an ending that gave closure to the story. Not many do that anymore.

Great series!

If you are a fan of zombie books this is a good series to listen to. I was very impressed with the narrator and his use of accents and languages was spot on.

Nazi's, North Koreans, Prophets, Zombies and a cat

What made the experience of listening to The Wrath of the Just the most enjoyable?

It has all the elements to make for a good listen. Nazis, North Koreans, Prophets, Zombies, the last survivors on earth, and a cat, oh and I shouldn't forget the important role played by the donkey.

What did you like best about this story?

The character of the cat! In fact I think a follow up book from the perspective of the cat would be great!

Which character – as performed by Nick Podehl – was your favorite?

With no shadow of doubt it is the cat!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I was not 'moved' by the book but I don't think that is the purpose of the book!

Any additional comments?

It is like so many zombie books. The real danger is not the zombie's it is the Nazi's, the North Koreans, and the religious nutters ;-)

Satisfying end to a great trilogy!

Writers of zombie fiction face a problem--you've got your band of survivors, but then what? Most authors keep their protagonists shuffling forward, foraging food, picking among the ruins of civilization. Sometimes there's a small community, and the focus shifts to petty power struggles that keep me hoping the apocalypse won't ever arrive. Occasionally this strategy works (Robert Kirkman), but more often, it just gets depressing.

Not so with Manel Loureiro's Apocalypse Z. In this final installment, our Spanish lawyer, now in Mississippi, faces something even more terrifying than a horde of undead: an unhinged Evangelist dictator backed up by a skinhead army. Even worse, another army is arriving from the other side of the world to do battle over the last inhabited town in the United States. It's up to our lawyer, along with Lucia, Pritchenko, and faithful feline Lucullus, to stop it all in time to save what's left of the planet.

There aren't a lot of marauding undead in this novel--Loureiro focuses on humans this time, with exciting and sometimes sad results (with so few humans left, it's pretty disgusting that they'd kill and mistreat each other!) But there's just as much excitement as there was in the last two books, as the trio get in one imaginative scrape after another. It was impossible to guess what was going to happen next as the twists kept on coming.

The ending did not disappoint here: clearly, the author knew when to end the series. Still, I wish there were more on the way--I'm going to miss these characters! I'll also miss Nick Podehl's fantastic reading, which brings all the emotion and excitement you'd expect from such a story, along with well-done accents that never sound cartoonish.

I highly recommend this suspenseful, insightful series for its excitement as well as its exploration of how horrible and wonderful human beings can be. Five stars all the way!

The living dead

I enjoyed the first two books but I did not like the direction the story went in Gulf port. Also prit should have lived. All of that he been through was a waste of time.

More things going on now

Alot more things start happening in this book with alot more characters and the story is much "bigger". There are soldiers and politics and social issues and all kinds of stuff, still written in a way its pretty easy to follow. Liking the series more and more.

Just a quibble about someone getting hit over the head. I couldn't understand why this wasn't dealt with right away rather than pretty much ignoring things just so the plot could develop further down into the story.
