Publisher's summary

From number one New York Times best-selling author Brandon Sanderson, the Mistborn series is a heist story of political intrigue and magical martial-arts action.

The impossible has been accomplished. The Lord Ruler - the man who claimed to be god incarnate and brutally ruled the world for a thousand years - has been vanquished. But Kelsier, the hero who masterminded that triumph, is dead too, and now the awesome task of building a new world has been left to his young protégé, Vin, the former street urchin who is now the most powerful Mistborn in the land, and to the idealistic young nobleman she loves.

As Kelsier's protégé and slayer of the Lord Ruler she is now venerated by a budding new religion, a distinction that makes her intensely uncomfortable. Even more worrying, the mists have begun behaving strangely since the Lord Ruler died, and seem to harbor a strange vaporous entity that haunts her.

Stopping assassins may keep Vin's Mistborn skills sharp, but it's the least of her problems.

Luthadel, the largest city of the former empire, doesn't run itself, and Vin and the other members of Kelsier's crew, who lead the revolution, must learn a whole new set of practical and political skills to help. It certainly won't get easier with three armies - one of them composed of ferocious giants - now vying to conquer the city, and no sign of the Lord Ruler's hidden cache of atium, the rarest and most powerful allomantic metal.

As the siege of Luthadel tightens, an ancient legend seems to offer a glimmer of hope. But even if it really exists, no one knows where to find the Well of Ascension or what manner of power it bestows.

excellent.

This book, as well as the first in this series, have gotten me addicted to audio books. I have struggled in the past to make the transition from reading books to listening to them. but both the story and the performance of the reader keep you engaged throughout the entire 24 hours of storytelling. the reader uses different voices and accents to move the story along. In some places, those accents actually act as foreshadowing for certain events in the story. if you're someone like me, trying to get into audio books and fantasy, this is the perfect place to start.

Mostly on par with book 1

If you liked mistborn 1, you'll like this one. I felt the first book drug on in a few bits, but did not get that feeling here. I did feel like a couple of spots were a little too "deus ex machina"-y. But those are honestly very mild quibbles. Vocal performance was great, but there was a very slight background whine/metallic ringing noise I picked up off and on during the final third of the book. I thought it was just me or my Bluetooth devices, but it could be heard on multiple devices using multiple speakers/headphones, and could not be detected in any other audio sources.

wonderful sequel

loved it! Some very unexpected twists that made it feel more real. I like stories that feel really and not like everything works out perfectly.

Starts Slow

In my opinion, this is the weakest of the three Mistborn books as the beginning deals with quite a bit of political maneuvering and seems very slow at times. However, Brandon Sanderson continues to deliver a different take on fantasy fiction than most other authors in the genre. I also love this narrator's ability to change accents and tones depending on the character that is speaking. Still impressive overall.

Don't be in a rush.... It'll take a while

Cool story, great characters and superb reading. Loved every minute of it. I hope to see a movie or even an anime series come from this.
