The best of the series

As is often the case, the best book in a well-established series is often the first, and that is certainly true here. This is fun science fiction, with enough interesting social commentary thrown in to keep you thinking. The narration is perfectly done; it captures Harrison's tone exactly.

Solid performance of a favorite

I already had a soft spot for the Rat series from when I was a teenager (in the before time) now several decades later this story is still funny, fast-paced & satisfying. It's like a lifelong SciFi nerd's Dashiell Hammett; slightly boiled crime mystery & almost comic book-like characters. It's a story, you know it's a story & it's still awesome. Solid reader, I like his voice characterization a lot. I'll probably listen to it again.

Jordan like when I first read it as a teenager

the performance actor was kind of disappointing main gym degrees sound like a privilege to college instead of egotistical mastermind

Oldie but goodie

I first read Stainless Steel Rat decades ago, and bought the audiobook to refresh my memory. I'm pleased to say that the story carries the same magic I remember from my youth. The narration carries the book very well.

A story about the scoundrels

If you’re looking for a story about the underworld of the far future, look no further. This is a very very fast read, and a fun one the whole way.

Fun

Criminals are fun. Science Fiction is fun. It is light. It is funny. It is fun. A wonderful break from more serious books.

Fun but predictable

Fun, but once the crop got involved the story was predictable. Felt like a short story that sets up a longer series.

Fun I wasn't expecting.

I got this book to listen to while wrapping presents for Christmas. It is fast paced and doesn't always flow well but the premise is fun and it makes you want to read more about the main character.
