Publisher's summary

The Wheel of Time is now an original series on Prime Video, starring Rosamund Pike as Moiraine!

In The Shadow Rising, the fourth novel in Robert Jordan’s number one New York Times best-selling epic fantasy series, The Wheel of Time®, Rand al’Thor now wields the sword Callandor. He is both the Champion of Light and the Dragon Reborn. Now, he seeks answers to another prophecy that lies with the warrior people known as the Aiel to put him on the path of learning how to wield the One Power.

Accompanied by Moiraine Damodred, Rand arrives at the Aiel Waste and is granted permission by the Wise Ones to enter the sacred city of Rhuidean. After passing through a doorframe ter'angreal, Moiraine gains foresight while the Aiel await Rand's return, either with both arms marked by dragon symbols, validating his identity as He Who Comes With the Dawn, the Chief of Chiefs of all the Aiel - or to never emerge at all.

Since its debut in 1990, The Wheel of Time® has captivated millions of readers around the globe with its scope, originality, and compelling characters. The last six books in series were all instant number one New York Times bestsellers, and The Eye of the World was named one of America's best-loved novels by PBS's The Great American Read.

"The fourth volume of the most ambitious American fantasy saga continues to suggest that The Wheel of Time will also be the finest." (Booklist)

Great story....

Really fun read. My only gripe is that the narrators often do not take a long enough break between chapters, so it can be a bit confusing as to when a new chapter begins.

Phenomenal!!!

The shadow rising was amazing!!! Keep in mind this is my first read of the series in general and I’m not good at writing reviews. This series keeps getting better and better. If at the end of the third book you thought to yourself. This is the peak ! No,the character writing is even better here. The world feels lived in,because of all the small issues that come up with characters we’ve met before but didn’t think we’d ever see again or at least I didn’t. Can’t wait to start the next book!

One of my favorite Jordan books

I've probably read Shadow Rising 3-4 times over the years and listened through once.

It's probably my favorite book Jordan wrote. I think books 4,5, and 6 are the best of the series, but 4 holds a special place because it's where the world really expands. I don't want to spoil anything, but there's a section that in another writer's hands would have been an infodump, but ends up being one of the most masterful things he wrote.

The narration, while not poor by any means, isn't always my favorite. It can be a bit slow and methodical at times making slow parts of the book feel even slower. It's very capable though so I still gave it 4 stars since I don't mind it just didn't love it.

It's entertaining

I like other series more than this series but it's a good set to keep me busy while I wait for the series I really want to listen to.

Great book! Wish it was single narrated

Love Michael kramer as a reader, it is difficult to listen to Kate, I am not sure what it is about her reading style but I have to go back and re-listen with her narration but Michael keeps me on the edge of my seat

A number of glitches in audio

Good story, but a number of glitches in audio. I assume this is listened to before release, so how did these slide through?
