Publisher's summary

He has fought the fight, and run the race. But the enemies never stop coming, and the race has no finish line. It has been three months since Captain Lee Harden found the survivors at Camp Ryder. With winter looming, Lee is on the verge of establishing Camp Ryder as a hub of safety and stability in the region. But not everyone agrees with Lee’s mission... or his methods. Growing tensions between camp leadership are coming to a head, and as Lee struggles amid the dissention and controversy, new revelations about the infected threaten to destroy everything he has worked for. The Remaining: Refugees is the third book in the best-selling The Remaining series.

Really enjoying this series!

I'm a sucker for zombie books and apocalypse worlds. I definitely have been enjoying this series so far. The main character it's quite interesting which keeps me wanting to know more. The crazy zombies and how they're changing is also very interesting and I love when zombies are more than just brain eating creatures. of course there is a few characters who I absolutely despise and cannot wait for them to be ripped apart. But I guess I'll have to find out in the next book! I highly recommend this book for anyone who like zombies or any sort of Apocalypse book.

Great zombie book AMAZING narrations.

Good series and I love this Christian rommel dude and the voices he does for each character. never a dull moment in the story as usual and plenty of gore and action without alot of filler or fluff and no love and sex side line stories to screw it all up. A real look at the human psyche in the post apocalypse America.

3rd book but it feels like the same as the first 2

This is the 3rd book and if you have gotten this far in the series you probably dont need a review, these are continuous books and they dont have a different story arch for each book other than it continuing, its not like some series so reviews arent needed for each book.

slow boil to mind-blowing wtf ending

If you could sum up The Remaining: Refugees in three words, what would they be?

sorry, i've got 6 words. as lee says, "you can't choose who you save!"

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Remaining: Refugees?

easily, the end. it's SHOCKING! i had to pick my brain up off the floor! puh-lease nobody reveal what happens! i was kind of pissed at the reviewer who revealed lee had to put down tango! if you reveal what happens, you'll forever be on my s#!t list!

Any additional comments?

refuges picks up 3 months after book 2. lee has been able to establish the camp ryder hub- a small collection of semi-safe zones. camp ryder is becoming too crowded with refuges, and tempers are flaring b/c lee's supplies only go so far. there is a dichotomy between the best way to survive- hunker down in isolation or expand and welcome all survivors. honestly, it would be a hard choice, and dj molles does a good job building the tension b/ween the factions. it's kind of a slow boil, but when things finally come to a head, it's an explosive climax!

i'm not spoiling anything by saying jerry isn't your typical villain, but i liked the direction dj molles went with it. it's been building, and jerry's slick ways of doing things add to the complications lee faces.with the influx of new refuges,

there are new friends and new enemies. dj molles does a good job of differentiating all of the characters so you don't get lost in who's who. the characters have different motivations, and there's a lot of character development.

dj molles keeps the tension building with internal and external threats. the infected are changing and in an interesting way that i didn't expect, which is refreshing!

at the end of book 2, we're introduced to jacob, who's forced to kill the coordinator from virginia. i like how dj molles weaves him into the plot, and what he brings to the table. there are a few surprises in this series, and i like how dj molles uses them. they don't feel fake or contrived. rather, the surprises add to the plot and make the story even more interesting. and yes, there are a couple of nice surprises in this book!

i thought this book was a little slower than the first two, but i liked it just the same as the intrigue builds to the explosive climax that'll have you downloading book 4 no matter what time it is!

Too Many Twists!!!

Great follow up to the 2nd book. What I liked is that you can't know if things are getting better or worse for the survivors.. Its like they don't know what they want and some are never happy. Lee faces too many challenges from every side and finds new challenges he had never expected.

The ending of this book though was my favourite, I knew what was coming, but still I was shocked and really enjoyed it.... Will start the fourth book soon.

I had my doubts regarding this series, but every book is getting better and better.

Gets better with each new Book!!!

Would you consider the audio edition of The Remaining: Refugees to be better than the print version?

I do love the Christian Rummel's reading of this book. he does a very good job. But it is definitely D.J. Molles material that makes this series pop. I listened to the first book and before done downloaded the second, third and fourth. I have not listened to another book since I have started this series.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Remaining: Refugees?

When the antagonist turns against the main group and gets enough others to do it too. It was so very anxiety producing.

Which character – as performed by Christian Rummel – was your favorite?

I still love the hero Lee Harding. He is such a believable hero with self doubts and personal foibles. What Molles does it make him a soldier first. As he says, “I am not a super hero. But a soldier and I am good at what I do."

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I did like when he finds another dog, but this is not an emotional book. The anxiety of working with the different groups led by inferior people is probably the most emotions of the book. the zombies are the least of the problems, it is the other survivors

Any additional comments?

I would start at the very first book and go through them one by one. They are all great but it is fun to build upon the foundations of the others.

Such a great audiobook.

If you could sum up The Remaining: Refugees in three words, what would they be?

Gripping, profound, reflexive.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Remaining: Refugees?

The moments of introspection.

Which character – as performed by Christian Rummel – was your favorite?

Jerry.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Absolutely!

Any additional comments?

The Remaining: Refugees

Such a great series. I believe this book is so good because of the constant introspection, the reflecting, and the appropriate language used for the appropriate situation. The action is good, sturdy, gripping--but too much of it would be useless without the outstanding use of introspection from the characters. This makes the book memorable, making you wonder turn after turn of what you would do if shit hits the fan and the world collapses.

In this sequel, Captain Lee Harden is faced with the cold truth, served cold and putrid. The infected are adapting, colonizing a world lost to humans. The infected are gaining survival tactics much faster than human survivors are, and already Packs and Hunters are diversifying as a new species.

Humans seem to be more of a problem onto themselves than to the infected. Infected regard humans as a meal, yet humans cannot restrain themselves from fighting over turf, over who commands and who possess, who gives orders and who completes them, helping the infected wipe humans out for good.

The worst is brought out in humanity as chaos beautifully spreads with claws that drape survivors with fear and loathing. With inner conflicts, Camp Rider has slim chances of making it if between group leaders there is constant division of force.

For Lee things get ugly. Having been kept out of the loop, he is in for a surprise with his military comrades destined to deploy Project Hometown. With strange attacks menacing to kill him, Lee will unravel mayhem festering within the ranks of his comrades. The infected are yet another challenge as a surprise is set in motion: Women run scarce and are nowhere to be found. Where are the infected women? This poses a heart-pounding turn of events for human survivors. The infected will never die out. At this pace, they will outlive humans. Can't wait to read the next book!
