Publisher's summary

This is the destiny of those who stand for others. Their honor will be bought in blood and pain. The Camp Ryder Hub is broken. Lee is nowhere to be found, and his allies are scattered across the state, each of them learning that their missions will not be as easy as they thought. Inside the walls of Camp Ryder, a silent war is brewing, between those few that still support Lee's vision of rebuilding, and the majority that support Jerry's desire for isolation. But this war will not remain silent for long. And in this savage world, everyone will have to make a choice. To keep their morals. Or keep their lives.

incredible continuation of a great series

Any additional comments?

after the shocking events at the end of book 3, i HAD to know what happened next! simply put, book 4 is excellent. dj molles takes a turn in the storytelling. books 1-3 focused mostly on lee- what he was going through. book 4 cycles back and forth between the 4 major plot lines: lee's disappearance, camp ryder, harper's journey north to eden, and laroche's journey east to the roanoke river.

don't worry! it is not confusing. actually, i found the transitions addicting! it was really hard to break away from the story. if you listen while commuting, you'll end up taking the long way home. LOL me? i write code for a living (c#, t-sql, linq) and telework 3 days a week so i had a few late nights!

the plot definitely keeps you engaged throughout the entire 18 hours. the icing on the cake is the mental journey the characters go through. dj molles does a superb job of depicting the hell each character is going through. some are bent, some are broken, some are snapped, and some are purified but in unexpected ways.

book 4 nicely wraps up some of the plot lines while others are extended and interesting ones added. book 4 is definitely a roller coaster ride. it's thrilling, and the payoff is rewarding.

this series has the best aspects of all your favorite zombie novels. this is the best end of the world / zombie series i have listened to so far.

I actually gasped..twice

This would be my favorite zombie series if it weren't for the Followers being religious nutters. Frankly, humanists would have been a better choice considering that that worldview, when lived out to its fullest potential, creates psychopaths. Now that would be refreshing. Alas...

Still, I gasped twice...out loud. Very rare for me. Excellent story-telling, excellent narrator. Looking forward to the next...

The Series Maintains Its High Standards!

I love this series. I feel like Molles keeps deepening the characters as they continue to advance into this unknown and hostile world. Christian Rummel continues his blood-and-guts assortment of voices - he does guys really well, but the girls come off a bit one note.

Thank you Audible

Would you listen to The Remaining: Fractured again? Why?

Yes..Very exciting and fast paced..The story is laid out well and the premise seem plausible.

Who was your favorite character and why?

This chapter of the story had many good characters..Of course Capt. Lee Harden

Have you listened to any of Christian Rummel’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Just this series..I have enjoyed these books.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

I survived Camp Ryder,..this would be a bumper sticker on the rear bumper of a crashed car.

Any additional comments?

I would like to see this movie.

4th book the ending of the series

Well if you got to this point you probably really liked the series so this is sorta a review on how the series ended.

I hope there are more books that continue this story or maybe what happened at the military command to cause the events of this book to happen, sending someone to kill Lee and someone taking over command because the president couldnt be found and he was the only one in the chain of command who was there so he was the guy - he causes problems and seeing what happened there would be pretty cool.

This series is really good and only lacking in a few areas IMO like a little more interactions with more groups of people or building things its mostly the surviving.

I really liked these books having read and watched TWD I was ready for more of zombies so this fit right in, I will be looking for more survival/zombie/horror books in the future.

Cliffhanger!

Loved this book, so many plot twists. Finished it in 5 days. I'll be getting the next book in the series right away hahaha.

Spoofs: On Chapter 32 at 13:31 mins pastor Jim asks Larouche to give him back his rifle. The narrator then says "Lee ejected the magazine and tossed it and the rifle in separate directions" I believe the narrator meant to say "Larouche" ejected the magazine...

Better and Better

These books keep getting better and better and I can’t stop until I finish the series! The reader manages to have different voices for every character, even the women and the story keeps me guessing. This would be a page turner if I were reading a physical book!

Good Overall

So, many of the elements of this story were predictable, but it wasn’t a bad story overall. I liked some of the character development. Two of my favorite characters died off so the game definitely stepped it up a notch. The performance wasn’t very consistent; at times the narrator’s voice would become so quiet that it would be hard to hear what was being said. All in all, a decent sequel to a worthy franchise.
