A end of the world book that makes sense

What did you love best about The Remaining?

The main character is well trained with knowledge and know how. I often wonder, what would I do if found in this situation. That is what the main character does. Not a lot of pounding his chest, just getting an impossible job done.

Who was your favorite character and why?

It would be Lee, the main character. He is a real person with his own fears and worries, but also the knowledge to help in most situations. He tries to do the right thing but gets mad at frustrating people too.

What does Christian Rummel bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

His voices are great. So great that a listener can see the character with just the voice he uses. But, not too over the top which was exactly what I was looking for.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I did laugh out loud a couple of times as well as swore with frustrations when things went south

Any additional comments?

I already downloaded the next in the series and am on it. If you wonder about what would happen if... Then this is a great book.

Favorite Series

This series starts off strong. The pacing is strong with plenty of action scenes to propel the story. The characters are rich. The only drawback is the cliffhangers that this author uses. Was a top selling series for a few years and you will see why if you take the plunge.

Add, It does have a strong military and prepper focus.

Zombies... kind of

I liked the first book a lot, so much I spent my next credit on the second book.

Solid Post Apocalyptic Zombie Story

I had got this two years ago, got burned out on Zombie stories, and just now got around to this one, but this seems much more enjoyable than other I have read/listened too. It has a good main character and a very solid Narrator. Great narrators are key for me to be interested. I have not decided if I will jump into the rest of the series as I have four years minimum of books on my wish list, but I just might revisit this one sometime later on.

that damn freaking kid

I am writing the review while listening to the book because I'm furious at a character lmao. the author did a great job in setting up a situation because I cannot remember feeling this flabbergasted at a character's action and resulting epic failure. made me have to keep listening to find out how the issue would be resolved.

WOW. Great storytellling.

This is a really good book! A lot of the storytelling is a bit over the top, but its action adventure! It's suppose to be exciting and compelling.

Narrator is Great, the gritty details of the action adventure are awesome. The author must have some real survival training to get some of the granular details to the story. And when surviving, it's about the details.

Super entertaining. I typically don't like zombie genera, but I liked this. The character detail is almost too good. You get a feel for the characters as real people and friends. But it's the apocalypse, and when bad things happen it can break your heart.

I actually bought this book a while ago. And I never started it. Then I finished a book. And decided to start listening to it. And I found that I absolutely enjoyed it. I love apocalypse stories and I love zombies. And I really loved the narrator. And main character was very interesting as well. I enjoyed this kind of take on an apocalypse. I never get bored with any kind of zombie novel. I definitely recommend this book for any zombie lover or anyone who enjoys post-apocalyptic books. I can't wait to read the rest! Well listen to the rest.

Great book!

I usually don't go for the "zombie" apocalypse books, but this series is different. This really isn't about "zombies" at all...., sure there are "infected" that try and eat the normal humans, but these infected aren't the main focus of the series. It's mostly the integration of different regular people that propels this series, and the infected are just a detail to add intensity to the story.

The narration is the best I've heard, and I've listened to the Game of Thrones series on audiobooks. The narrator reads it with so many different inflections that you can't help but hang on every word, and react to each new situation.

Truly an amazing series with a very talented narrator. I can't recommend it higher.

An average zombie book

This was neither a bad or a great book! it simply was very much a very average zombie book. it felt like someone checked off boxes on a spreadsheet in order to make it. fortunately for the book the main character is marginally interesting. if I catch the second book one sale I will probably buy it. but until that point I probably would not spend a credit to get it.
