Publisher's summary

Melanie Stryder refuses to fade away. Earth has been invaded by a species that takes over the minds of human hosts while leaving their bodies intact, and most of humanity has succumbed.

Wanderer, the invading "soul" who has been given Melanie's body, knew about the challenges of living inside a human: the overwhelming emotions, the too vivid memories. But there was one difficulty Wanderer didn't expect: the former tenant of her body refusing to relinquish possession of her mind.

Melanie fills Wanderer's thoughts with visions of the man Melanie loves - Jared, a human who still lives in hiding. Unable to separate herself from her body's desires, Wanderer yearns for a man she's never met. As outside forces make Wanderer and Melanie unwilling allies, they set off to search for the man they both love.

Featuring what may be the first love triangle involving only two bodies, The Host is a riveting and unforgettable novel that will bring a vast new readership to one of the most compelling writers of our time.

Addicting

This book is very addicting in many ways. Meyer has a great way with words, and Kate Reading really brings the characters to life with her different voices and intonations. I would love a sequel!

Awesome! Highly recommend!

This book had me hooked from the very first chapter. Ten times better than the Twilight series.

Excellent! Definitely worth my time!

I was a little unsure how this book would compare with her teen series, but I was VERY pleasantly surprised at the maturity in her writing and inner turmoil. Meyers has a way with understanding the nuances of human behavior and truly weaving all aspects of consciousness into a character.

One fo the best audiobooks

Stephanie Meyer gets 4 stars but the narrator gets 5 stars!!! Excellent. I could not believe how this book really gripped me. I like romance but not too much and sci-fi but not too much either...this was the perfect dosage of both. Bravo! I highly recommend this audiobook but I'm not sure if men would dig this.

Not Another Twilight

Stephanie Meyer has written some amazing books before -the Twilight Series- but none of them can compete with Host. If your looking for another Twilight this isnt the book for you, it is nothing like Twilight. But it still retains the amazing quatlity Stephanie always bring to her books. Dont pass up a chance for a great read and buy this book.

Breaking the Twilight mold

If you could sum up The Host in three words, what would they be?

Give me more!

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Host?

I can't divulge my favorite moments without spoilers. Personally, I hate reading reviews with spoilers. Cliche - but the best part is the end when the final decisions are made.

Which character – as performed by Kate Reading – was your favorite?

All were great. Kate is a great narrator. The characters were delineated, clear and unique.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

The film is already in production and is due to come out summer 2013.

Any additional comments?

Its about time that Meyer breaks out of her Twilight mold.

I would recommend this book

I read the Twilight series, and thought it was OK but too filled with angst to be thought of as anything other than literary brain candy. The Host is very different (no sparkly vampires). The writing has a sort of slow momentum that drew me in. The characters are complex and well developed. I think this book could be appreciated by a diverse audience. Kate Reading is wonderful, as always.
