Publisher's summary

The Grail is another knockout from New York Times best-selling author Bob Mayer writing as Robert Doherty.

The Holy Grail - is it the key to a miracle...or a terrifying truth? The Great Wall of China, the immense carvings on Easter Island, Egypt's pyramids, UFOs: What is the chilling connection? The answer, unearthed by an elite band of soldiers and scientists based at Area 51, is rewriting human history - to include the aliens who shaped it!

Now, in this heart-pounding novel, Area 51 personnel embark on a top-secret search for the Holy Grail, a glittering artifact with the power to save the world...or lead to its destruction.

Special Forces officer Mike Turcotte has paid his dues in battle and in blood. Now assigned to Area 51, he fights the toughest enemy of his career: the alien race who arrived on Earth millennia ago and have returned to claim the planet.

Mike has dodged bullets and faced weapons of mass destruction to give humanity another day of reprieve. But when his lover, scientist Lisa Duncan, falls into evil hands, Mike must decide which prize means the most to him - the woman he loves or the legendary Grail. It's a decision that could damn him...or damn us all.

Good story, very bad narration

As many have said, the narration is horrible. I would recommend sticking it out though if you have made it this far through the series... and the next books narrator is different, so crossing my fingers. Also, there are several spots were the narrator stumbles on words and repeats... it isn’t you or your device, just really bad editing on top of the bad narration.

The story however is good and continues the saga.

Bad narrator.

The narrator was so bad. The book was good but hard to stay interest as the reader was very monotone and boring. Also the common pronunciation of words was all incorrect.

Great story not sure why the narrator was switched

Love the series, read it in paperback years ago. Got the airship series to listen to it. First couple books the narrator was great. Not a fan of this one. Sounded unemotional and mechanical while reading. Didn’t stop me from finishing the book, but wish the narrator had not changed.

Spock or Kirk as Narrator???

What did you like best about The Grail? What did you like least?

Best thing was when I finished the book as the narrator was done! Worst thing was the narrator...

How could the performance have been better?

Martin Gallery has zero talent for this medium and the only reason I listened to the whole thing was so I could get to the next book and the best narrator for the series. Martin is like listening to Spock or Data narrate a book and opposed to Kirk!

Do you think The Grail needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

Audible should do the series justice and rerecord this book with Jeff or Bob and remove this recording to the trash bin....

Narration was bad

Would you try another book from Robert Doherty and Bob Mayer and/or Martin Gollery?

never would i listen to martin gollery. the voice just didn't agree with me.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Grail?

unfortunately, it was when the narrator made a mistake, then backed up & repeated the word correctly... 3 times in 15 minutes... no editing? seriously? lol.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

just doesn't sound like this is his thing. not believable, poor voice impressions...

Any additional comments?

love me some audible

Great Book, Terrible Narrator!

Another great and fun book in this series! However, as an Audio Book, there is much left wanting. the first three books in the series were all narrated by the same person and he did a fantastic job, the fourth book was that narrated buy another gentleman that, though was not as versatile as the original narrator, still did a fairly good job. the narrator of this book, and please understand I am not trying to be too hard, was utterly terrible. his reading style is very monotone and he has no flexibility between characters and accents, everyone sounds completely identical regardless of whether the character is a man or a woman or is from a different part of the world is Russia, Africa, Asia. It also seems like there was no editing done on this book as there were too many times to count that the narrator would mess up and restart a word or an entire sentence.

How can anyone finishing listening to this?

Any additional comments?

I LOVE this series. Right after I read the first book Kindle/Audible as combination purchases had a massive sale on most of the books in the series so I bought them up. I could NOT take listening to this narrator for even 30 minutes. I will eventually get back to the series and read the Kindle version. I have been an avid Audible listener for about 5 years and listen to 40-50 books a year. This is the first time I completely gave up on a book solely due to the narrator's poor performance. I have struggled through painfully listening to several to the end because the story or the series was so good I just couldn't stop myself, but not this time. I've come back over the last 3 months or so since the first attempt hoping that Audible and the author's would team up to have the book re-produced but to no avail. I seriously do not know how any of the other reviewer's were able to finish this book.

Excellent tale, shockly bad narration

I love this series, Mayer is simply amazing. I look forward to listening to each and every book.

However, Gollerys "performance" was so bad it was a struggle. I found myself shouting at the iPod on more than one occasion. He doesn't seem to feel the need to read ahead and often stops himself and repeats sentences. His pace is almost always totally off and he... draws sentences... out... making it... very tough... going.

Very much looking forward to the next instalment in the series.

Great story. Narration Horrible!

The continuing drama of Area 51. Thank God the story was good, because the narrator just about made me quit listening.
