Publisher's summary

The Grail is another knockout from New York Times best-selling author Bob Mayer writing as Robert Doherty.

The Holy Grail - is it the key to a miracle...or a terrifying truth? The Great Wall of China, the immense carvings on Easter Island, Egypt's pyramids, UFOs: What is the chilling connection? The answer, unearthed by an elite band of soldiers and scientists based at Area 51, is rewriting human history - to include the aliens who shaped it!

Now, in this heart-pounding novel, Area 51 personnel embark on a top-secret search for the Holy Grail, a glittering artifact with the power to save the world...or lead to its destruction.

Special Forces officer Mike Turcotte has paid his dues in battle and in blood. Now assigned to Area 51, he fights the toughest enemy of his career: the alien race who arrived on Earth millennia ago and have returned to claim the planet.

Mike has dodged bullets and faced weapons of mass destruction to give humanity another day of reprieve. But when his lover, scientist Lisa Duncan, falls into evil hands, Mike must decide which prize means the most to him - the woman he loves or the legendary Grail. It's a decision that could damn him...or damn us all.

Absolutely the worst narrator and recording

Is there anything you would change about this book?

This was totally the worst performance I've heard from any of the almost 300 audiobooks I have purchased from Audible. The narrator has no capability to differentiate voices of characters, ignores punctuation, mispronounces names of people and places, and did no editing at all. There were no less than 15 break-and-restate narration errors that should have been edited out.l

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Martin Gollery?

I would have stuck with Eric G. Dove, a far superior narrator who, thankfully, the series returns to after this horrible production.

Who hired windows 2000 as narrator?

holy. crap.

I would rather listen to my 8 year old read The Simarillion aloud than listen to this guy again. For real, this is how you drive fans away. It is like listening to a person unfamiliar with English, who was told you have to emphasize every letter T, stumbling through reading a biology textbook in front of the class.
I know we tell folks they can be anything when they grow up but someone should have warned Martin that his narration talents are more suited for NASA countdowns, loud "virus" popups, or that episode of The Office as the voice of Long Tim's computer admirer.

Geez...

Sort yourself out.

Worst narration on the planet.

Series started off great, now it's starting to get silly. Couple that with probably the worst narrator on planet earth and it was a real slog to finish. He would start sentences, make a mistake, then restart the sentence. Aren't these thongs supposed to be edited? Mispronunciations abound. One character's last name he pronounced 5 different ways. His rhythm of speech is very distracting.
I'm going to try one more Area 51 book, (Martin Gollery doesn't narrate), and we'll see if I can bring myself to finish the series.

Huh?

Worst. Reading. Ever. I love the story that Bob Mayer puts into all of these books and the twists on history, but the reading of the book left A LOT to be desired. Bad accents are one thing, but no accents are honestly even worse, and then the amount of times he had to stop and restart something, and to not have that edited out, was very unprofessional.

Painful....worst narrator ever!

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

Loved this series but this book was very difficult to get through, the reader was that bad!
Will not buy another book read by him.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

No emotion very mechanical ...ugh...awful !

Any additional comments?

Loved the story though....thank heavens the rest of the series has good readers, otherwise I would have stopped at this book

Painfully Dissapointing

Narrated by, 'That slow kid in 10th grade English '
He seemed to have no familiarity with what he was reading.

Story is very entertaining, despite the reader.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

I have listened to the first 3 books in this series and enjoyed them very much. Read the 4th since I could not find a narrated book for some reason, but was very disappointed in the reading performance of the 5th book. I will go back to reading any further in the series or any other book read by this author. It seems he is just reading words and doesn't have a clue about how to actually perform a good reading of a good story. Very difficult to ignore.

Read it, this narrator is AWFUL.

Beware!
Even if you like the series, listening to this installment is agony. This narrator sucks.

The illiterate robot.

Worst narration ever. May this guy never read anything else again. He reads like a 4 year old. Add to that the incipit robotic voice. Simply terrible. I should save his name and make sure I never pay again for an audio book he narrates.

Change of Narrator

I have been enjoying all of the Area 51 books. I struggled with this book because of a change in narrators. seemed to be way more of a distraction than I expected.
