Publisher's summary

From number one New York Times best-selling author Brandon Sanderson, the Mistborn series is a heist story of political intrigue and magical, martial-arts action.

For a thousand years the ash fell and no flowers bloomed. For a thousand years the Skaa slaved in misery and lived in fear. For a thousand years the Lord Ruler, the "Sliver of Infinity," reigned with absolute power and ultimate terror, divinely invincible. Then, when hope was so long lost that not even its memory remained, a terribly scarred, heart-broken half-Skaa rediscovered it in the depths of the Lord Ruler's most hellish prison.

Kelsier "snapped" and found in himself the powers of a Mistborn. A brilliant thief and natural leader, he turned his talents to the ultimate caper, with the Lord Ruler himself as the mark. Kelsier recruited the underworld's elite, the smartest and most trustworthy allomancers, each of whom shares one of his many powers, and all of whom relish a high-stakes challenge. Only then does he reveal his ultimate dream, not just the greatest heist in history, but the downfall of the divine despot. But even with the best criminal crew ever assembled, Kel's plan looks more like the ultimate long shot, until luck brings a ragged girl named Vin into his life.

Like him, she's a half-Skaa orphan, but she's lived a much harsher life. Vin has learned to expect betrayal from everyone she meets, and gotten it. She will have to learn to trust, if Kel is to help her master powers of which she never dreamed.

This saga dares to ask a simple question: What if the hero of prophecy fails?

excellent a second time

I love hearing Michael Kramer read. it is always fun hearing voices he uses in other works like Perrin from Wheel of Time sounds similar to Hamm in Mistborn. excellent series the second time through

Awesome!

I honestly thought this was going to be super generic, but after the first fight scene I was hooked. I read a lot of fantasy and this one stands apart. I loved it.

Great Trilogy

I can't recommend this series enough. The first book stands as a great work in its own right with a solid ending. However, the story is continued in books 2 and 3 with revelations that only make the storytelling in book 1 that much more appreciated.

Highly recommended but I found it lacking.

Alot of character development alot of dialogue. Not alot of action or detail of landscape. More of a political fantasy and even then none of the twists and turns of betrayals or momentary alliances.

Ups and downs

Great book! It pulled me in and kept me guessing. Experienced all the ups and downs and loved how I could identify with all the characters.
Can't wait for the next one.

Great novel, almost an Arthurian tale in quality!

If you like fantasy with adventure and romance, you will like this series. Once you get a feel for where the plot is going you can't put it down.

Great story backed up with excellent narration.

Whenever I'm done with a series I always have this doubt that the next one i listen to won't be able to drag me in as much as the last one did, but time and time again i'm proven wrong.

Brandon Sanderson, who might just prove to be my favorite author as of recent delivers a great story, a fascinating harsh world and multiple unique martial arts-esque magic systems. There are a lot of mysteries yet to be solved. I really enjoy the little bits before each chapter, which are like a little story in themselves.

The narration by Michale Kramer is great, he does specific voices/accents for each character but it never feels over the top or fake. I really enjoy listening to him and I'm looking forward to the next two books.
