Fitting finish for a long saga

The best booked in the series after the first one. About 10 chapters before the end it seemed like little else could be told but a secret from the clickest is poignantly revealed which is almost worth binding the whole story.

The Ashes of Worlds

Brilliant performance. The narrator's ability to infuse each character with a different voice and personality is astounding. I loved this story.

Predictible, but a grand finale for the saga

For the followers of the previous volumes it's a must. Nevertheless a lack of surprise or twists leave a taste of dejá vu.

Nice conclusion to the series

While this was not my favorite book of the series it was a nice conclusion. I've wondered for a while how the incredibly powerful enemies of humanity would be overcome. All of those plot threads were tied up though some did seem to be a bit of a stretch. The denouement seemed to go on too long but it does make sense that the last 90 minutes of the book were about the final disposition of the surviving characters. I thoroughly enjoyed the series overall and this book was no disappointment.

Great story

An exciting story that keeps the reader engaged. Good character development with realistic story line that builds over the course of the books. The Villain of the story could be portrayed in a more nuanced manner but did not detract from the overall satisfaction of the story

One of the best sci fi sagas ever written

Each and every book in this 7-book series has been totally engrossing. The writing style, the never-ending imagination, the characters, settings - just totally top-notch. I have to give the narrator credit for juggling multiple characters each with their own voice, and multiple races each with their own dialect. The only choice that threw me was using a British accent for the Ildirins...I would have thought a Chinese accent would have been more appropriate, given the nature of the race. I liked the guy who did the first 3 books better, but really not a big deal - the story just sucks you in so completely, it's all ok. YOU JUST CAN'T MISS THIS SERIES!!!!

Quite a slog

All the books in the series are too long, with too many story lines, some really silly. I did enjoy book 1 and sadly stuck with it hoping for more about Margaret and her husband on the archeological digs.
