Publisher's summary

Harry Dresden, Chicago's only professional wizard, is about to have a very bad day.…

Because as Winter Knight to the Queen of Air and Darkness, Harry never knows what the scheming Mab might want him to do. Usually, it’s something awful.

He doesn’t know the half of it.…

Mab has just traded Harry's skills to pay off one of her debts. And now he must help a group of supernatural villains - led by one of Harry's most dreaded and despised enemies, Nicodemus Archleone - to break into the highest-security vault in town, so that they can then access the highest-security vault in the Nevernever.

It's a smash-and-grab job to recover the literal Holy Grail from the vaults of the greatest treasure hoard in the supernatural world - which belongs to the one and only Hades, Lord of the freaking Underworld and generally unpleasant character. Worse, Dresden suspects that there is another game afoot that no one is talking about. And he's dead certain that Nicodemus has no intention of allowing any of his crew to survive the experience. Especially Harry.

Dresden's always been tricky, but he's going to have to up his backstabbing game to survive this mess - assuming his own allies don’t end up killing him before his enemies get the chance.…

Thank Goodness, Harry's Back

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

The good old Harry is back after being a shadow of himself in the last couple of books. I am reminded of why I thoroughly enjoyed Sir Harry and all of his supporting characters (friends, family, and foes) during this series. If you love Harry, sit back and enjoy and get reacquainted!

not his best work but still solid

another great book in the Dresden files.
solid story and humor but this one almost came off as a fan fiction more then Jim butchers normal quality.
I can't be to critical because I listened to it almost without pause it just felt a little different then his past novels.
still a wonderful book.

My favorite series ever

Would you listen to Skin Game again? Why?

Yes. I have already listened to this series 3 times. Books don't get much better than this.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Skin Game?

So many of them

What does James Marsters bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He is Harry Dresden. He couldn't perform Ghost Story and I ended up buying the book because the poor guy they had substitute was not Harry Dresden and I couldn't get to the 2nd chapter. As I read the book, I could imagine James Marsters voice.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

There are always moving moments in each book

Any additional comments?

If you haven't read Dresden Files, pick up Storm Front, you'll be doing yourself a favor.

the unexpected happens again

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

the entire series is just darn good. Every time I finish one the next book is eagerly awaited.

Have you listened to any of James Marsters’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Marster's makes the stories go. The one book he missed was a real setback so hopefully he is able to do whatever follows.

Any additional comments?

Butcher has a way of introducing aspects in his characters that you might not see as likely as the story is in motion. Without giving too much away we seemed to have added a new knight who has come up through the ranks and grown more in each book.

lusting for the next book

This book was so captivating. It brought back major enemies and kept the current ones making an immensely entertaining plot.

Good Job

I must admit as these episodes have progressed the story line has gotten more complicated. Pretty much to the point I may need to make a chart as to who is who. But it doesn’t make the plot too complicated to follow. I have to actually admit that I find I like the way the growth of characters have happened. Dresden has become a more rounded protagonist. A increasingly human character that I can identify with.
And as a side note, good job Butters!!!!

OMG

Harry makes his best performance yet. Marsters is amazing as usual. This book sets the stage for a deeper Harry than we have seen before.
