Publisher's summary

There is an unseen power in the universe - a terrible force that was dominating the galaxy tens of thousands of years before the warlike Sh'daar were even aware of the existence of Sol and its planets.

As humankind approaches the Singularity, when transcendence will be achieved through technology, contact will be made.

In the wake of the near destruction of the solar system, the political powers on Earth seek a separate peace with an inscrutable alien life form that no one has ever seen.

But Admiral Alexander Koenig, the hero of Alphekka, has gone rogue, launching his fabled battle group beyond the boundaries of Human Space against all orders. With Confederation warships in hot pursuit, Koenig is taking the war for humankind's survival directly to a mysterious omnipotent enemy.

The End!? )-: ????????

The third book of the series.......
Well, I don't want to criticize but it was too anticlimactic for my taste.
Perhaps because I expected that author will break his compulsion about trilogies and write a few more books.
Despite all the facts, I still think that story line has definite continuation, but it's up to author to decide.

Great book, great series

Have you listened to any of Nick Sullivan’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This was another great Nick Sullivan performance. I really liked the first two books of this series as well, both narrated by him. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another book that he narrated.

Any additional comments?

The story in this book was a little weaker than the other two Star Carrier books, in my opinion. I found the end confusing and had to listen to it twice to really grasp why it ended. I think this is due to a weakened plot line as it seemed the author wasn't sure what he was talking about either. I loved the first two books, really great technological vision in all 3.

WOW!! Great 3rd Book

This book has what is needed for a Great book. 1) A Great Story. 2) Great Narration. 3) Lots of Action. and 4) a good end! A 4th book would be nice but not needed.

Blah blah blah

The author must have been great at fulfilling the word count minimums for class assignments.

Unfortunately, the chosen method of doing so is merely repeating himself with not only the same info from back in book 1 but the same info provided earlier in this very book.

How many times do we have to hear about the same sob story of the characters upbringing, the social norms of religion, monogamy or the math of of free fall acceleration.

The constant droning on and on about the same exact thing does in fact take away from the story. Perhaps the author has never heard “Less is More”

Intriguing

These Ian Douglas Star Carrier books have captured my interest more than most of the other Sci-Fi series I’ve listened to. I have re-learned and reviewed many physics and mathematical concepts I studied at university. I have been entertained immensely.

Repeated content wears thin after a while.

Presumably, the author needed to up the word count and did that by repeating passages seemingly dozens of times. That said, the story was interesting, even though you need to fast forward through the tedious repetitions.

Very well written with good plot.

Well this book didn't disappoint me one bit. I can't wait until I start the next books. Can't wait to see what the all of the America people do next.

good story but writer is a bit repetitive.

some of the descriptions that the writer uses are used almost the same word for word in several places in the book and serries. ignore these for a good story.
