Publisher's summary

MacKayla Lane was just a child when she and her sister, Alina, were given up for adoption and banished from Ireland forever. Twenty years later, Alina is dead and Mac has returned to the country that expelled them to hunt her sister’s murderer. But after discovering that she descends from a bloodline both gifted and cursed, Mac is plunged into a secret history: an ancient conflict between humans and immortals who have lived concealed among us for thousands of years.

What follows is a shocking chain of events with devastating consequences, and now Mac struggles to cope with grief while continuing her mission to acquire and control the Sinsar Dubh — a book of dark, forbidden magic scribed by the mythical Unseelie King, containing the power to create and destroy worlds. In an epic battle between humans and Fae, the hunter becomes the hunted when the Sinsar Dubh turns on Mac and begins mowing a deadly path through those she loves. Who can she turn to? Who can she trust? Who is the woman haunting her dreams? More important, who is Mac and what is the destiny she glimpses in the black and crimson designs of an ancient tarot card?

From the luxury of the Lord Master’s penthouse to the sordid depths of an Unseelie nightclub, from the erotic bed of her lover to the terrifying bed of the Unseelie King, Mac’s journey will force her to face the truth of her exile, and to make a choice that will either save the world... or destroy it.

Wow!

They revamped the readers so there are more than one, and it really enhances the experience. I wish they would remake all the books like this.

"The Fever Series is so good...very addictive!"

I loved every one of these books! The characters are interesting and well-developed. Moning does a fantastic job of keeping the story exciting, intriguing, sexy, and unpredictable. I downloaded all of the books to my phone so that I could listen whenever I had a few minutes, whether I was driving, working out, waiting in line somewhere, or folding laundry. Pretty addictive! I was so sorry when I reached the end. I'm starting her Highlander Series next.

A Must Read

I can hardly fathom where to begin. I started the Fever series not sure that I would continue. But I was admittedly hooked. There is so much detail in the Fever Universe that I reread the series to gather details that I had previously missed. I love characters in the series, and can't wait for the development of "Iced" in continuation. In short, if you haven't read the first four, go back and do it now! This is not a series you can start halfway through.

KMM is the best writer ever! Phil Gigante *swoon*

Would you consider the audio edition of Shadowfever to be better than the print version?

Amazing, it is a totally different ride. I like to read the book, then listen to it and that gives me to perspectives which make it interesting.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Shadowfever?

No spoilers coming from me... This is where all the answers are.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Would have loved to but who has the time.

This was a satisfying end

Bought on Audible

Trying for spoiler free since not everyone has read it. I am sure I will inadvertently give something away though so read at your own risk.

What I Loved: In no particular order: Barrons and his Merry Men, V'Laine and The King, Danni and all the sidhe-seers, and Christian and his family. I really did enjoy how this story weaved and flowed until the very end. It was so much more than just a search for a book, for family, or for answers. This book gave many answers and though some things were left unresolved you had the feeling that they would work themselves out eventually. As you can tell, I really enjoyed the multitude of characters that told this story. Though I am sad to see it end, it was time to close the story. I am excited to hear there will be a series about Danni, Christian, and R'yo! There was so much story left to tell about the side characters!

What I Liked: The world was described so well that I could almost visualize everything. KMM was very good at describing characters, buildings, and environments in a way that you could visualize each thing as she meant it to be seen. This did wonders for the story!

Audio Specific: This was fantastically done! I would recommend the audio version of this book to anyone but keep in mind the first 3 books were done by someone different. The last two were real winners! The Dual Narrators: Natalie Ross, Phil Gigante did such a fantastic job that it is hard to put into words. I would listen to anything they narrated.

Complaints: (Sorry this will be Spoilery) I am giving this book a 4 but mostly that is because of all the characters that I grew to love. However, I don't love Mac. In fact, I am not even sure I like her. I thought the whole series, most of all in this book, she was hypocritical and overly judgmental. Though up to this book, I liked her and then this book she just kind of lost me. I think mostly because she never got out of her own head. I also thought in most cases she was the problem not the solution. I kept reminding myself that she was only 22, just learned about this world, and had a lot thrown at her. Then though, she would demand that she be given respect, a spot of importance, and be listened too. If you are asking for that then there is a certain amount of character that you are expected to have. I really don't think Mac ever got there but she might over time. The very last chapter gave me hope that in spin-offs I may think she deserves Barrons and the responsibility she wants to have in the world.

Why I gave this a 4: This was a satisfying end to this series and just like with Last Sacrifice, it left enough open that there can be spin-offs. For that alone, it gets a 4.

Who I would recommend it to: Fans of the series, you can't start with this book.

One of my favorite series

What made the experience of listening to Shadowfever the most enjoyable?

I love the fact that it is two great narrators

What does Natalie Ross and Phil Gigante bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I love these two, and I love the way its directed with the women reading all the women parts and vice verse. I truely love Phil Gigante voice it is amazing, but his women voice tend to sound a little not so goo.

Any additional comments?

Love this series, and Love all the author. Can't wait for the next book, have already read Iced and burned... Love Dani!!!
