Publisher's summary

Car mechanic Mercy Thompson has always known there was something different about her, and not just the way she can make a VW engine sit up and beg. Mercy is a shapeshifter, a talent she inherited from her long-gone father. She's never known any others of her kind. Until now.

An evil is stirring in the depths of the Columbia River - one that her father's people may know something about. And to have any hope of surviving, Mercy and her mate, the Alpha werewolf Adam, will need their help....

Have Mercy! Listen to another Mercy Thompson chiller.

Critic reviews

"An outstanding urban fantasy novel with some well-loved and well-traveled characters...The way [Briggs] writes about all of the different fictional supernatural creatures is fascinating and keeps you on your toes.” (Examiner.com)

Mercy’s Native Magic Honeymoon

Mercy holds her own intervention with Stefan the vampire who has gone into depression over Marsilia’s ill treatment of his cattle, and practically breaking him to ferret out her traitors.
Who else has a surprise wedding but Mercy Thompson? And Adam surprises her with a major luxe camper and an exclusive camp ground for honeymoon privacy. Only problem is the Ancient River Devil that has been set free by Fae Otters relocated from Europe.
Mercy connects with Coyote, and learns more about her father’s history. It takes Mercy, Adam, Coyote, several other Animal Spirits, and the local Indian community and Shaman to come up with a plan to deal with the native creature.
Stefan has to stage an intervention for a grumpy injured Mercy. After complimenting the Walking Stick, Coyote is gifted by Mercy, according to Native American tradition. Who knows what adventures they’ll get up to.
King does a great job of narration.

This series would make an epic movie series

The characters, settings, and story would make a fantastic movie or TV series. Mercy Thompson and companions would be as popular as Star Wars, Harry Potter, and Marvel movies. I'll be 62 this fall, the oldest of 9 children, mother of 7, and grandmother to 14. I really appreciate being able listen to these stories and not be embarrassed about language or sexual content. Patricia handles situations of stress and romance with taste and does not rely on crudeness to address hostile or romantic encounters.

Love this series

I really love this series. I took a break after book five to read a few other books but found myself so interested in what was happening with Mercy and the gang that I switched back. This book was different than the others so far in the series. It takes place predominantly in one area and we learn a lot about Mercy. I enjoyed the development of her character and learning more about her background. Stefan is my favorite character apart from Mercy and Adam who drive the story. He only makes a short appearance in this book but I’m hoping for more of him again in the next book! I recommend reading this book if you enjoy the series. If you are looking for a new series, start at the beginning of this one. While you could probably still enjoy this book without reading the others, it wouldn’t be the same and you would miss a lot of small details.

River monsters and a honeymoon?

Only Mercy could combine a honeymoon with an encounter with an ancient river monster. This was especially exciting. I almost listened to this in one day. It was so quick and intersting, I may listen to it again in a couple days. Truly excellent story.

A Very Nice follow-up book.

This is a very nice follow-up book in this saga. It is about time we see a little more about her Native American powers and magic.

Slow, compared to the others in this series.

What made the experience of listening to River Marked the most enjoyable?

The last few chapters. While it took a long time to get to it the ending was pretty good.

If you’ve listened to books by Patricia Briggs before, how does this one compare?

Not one of her best.

Any additional comments?

I'll probably read the next one to see if it gets better.

Entertaining

Loved to experience Mercy and Adam alone and on this adventure! Love the Fae, so this was especially good for me. Mercy totally kicked butt, also learning more about her heritage was such a plus.
