"Good Story... Bad Writer... Worst Characters"

The overall story is fascinating. I love the concepts and the plot. However, every single character is underdeveloped. Every. Single. One.

Every character was given one trait and then the author becomes repetitive with it. Sandra likes sex and being angry. Marvin likes to explore and be curt. Riggs likes to program. Etc...

Also, the sex in every scene is distracting. It'll be an intense military scene and all Sandra and Riggs (or Quan) can think about is what they will do in bed next. It's base. But if you're Sandra and that's as deep as your character goes... There is no avoiding it.

In short: the characters, especially Quan and Sandra, become overly annoying. To the point I don't want to continue the series.

"Interesting story, but lacking in character"
What would have made Rebellion better?

As usual, Kyle Riggs is not only a computer programmer, but also a battlefield commander, master tactician, aerospace engineer, and skillful diplomat. Come on Larson, can't you just once develop some solid secondary supporting characters who are more than "yes" men?

    "Disappointing."
    What disappointed you about Rebellion?

Far too much time spent at the climax of the book on a manufactured love triangle.

What could B. V. Larson have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Cut down on the high school level drama.

Have you listened to any of Mark Boyett’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Great. He's a fantastic reader. Great command of character voices.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

    Disappointment.

Wildly imaginative, yet believable. While sprinkled wh dry wit, humor, and a range of emotion , without being sappy.

This book really stepped up the author's intelligence and creativity. Extremely enjoyable. Best book in the series so far.

I listen to a variety of audio books constantly in car and gym. My reviews remind me what I’ve read & are hopefully helpful to you as well.

"One of the best series I've come across. Get it."

I am still enjoying the series and intend to use my credits to finish it out over the next few months, which I've only done with a few series in the past (Jonathan Mayberry & multiple from Mark Tufo – you gotta check these out if you haven’t already run across them). After this series I may check out another series from B.V. Larson as I've become a fan.

As for ‘Rebellion’, I really like how the story continues to develop. They have met some interesting life forms, are attempting for develop alliances, and beginning take the initiative against the oppressing macros. Narration is also excellent.

There are already over 2000 reviews for this book so I doubt I can add much more other than my positive recommendation for this book and the series.

(P.S. if you saw my review of the stuff I didn't like from the previous book, Extinction, then there is less of it in this book. Nothing annoyed me in this one :) ).

"Needs an editor who understands females."

Decent story well performed but female characters are crap. Sex scenes are tacked on and seem unnatural to the story.
