Great story!

Marks reading is amazing as always. B. V. Larson never fails to keep you on the edge of your seat and he makes you fall in love with the characters. One thing with this book that stands out, I laughed to the point of tears a few times. 5 full stars!

Performance great story is ok

I think they can go someplace with it in the following books. But it needs work. It’s good enough to it for sure but it’s a little campy and stereotypical in places.

Not bad

It was fine, but had hard time focusing. Just didn’t hold my attention. I’ve probably just read too many space sci-fi books so some just sound like the same ole story with different actors and slightly different aliens. That said it was good writing and narration.

Good not great several times the author reversed

I like B.V. Larson but this feels rushed and poorly edited. I feel like he didn't read or listen to it after writing it. Several times we are told something and then it changes...

It's not the Undying Mercenaries

Hey, I'll be real with y'all: if you're considering making this your first BV Larson book, stop right now and pick up the Undying Mercenaries series. For everyone else, I don't have many positive or negative opinions about this book.

This story is interchangable with literally any of the author's other titles that don't include our boy JG. It is fine. It's okay. It's whatever, but it isn't special. There's nothing particularly memorable about it. I would compare it to the Space Force series more than Undying Mercenaries series, but it doesn't really come close to Space Force, let alone Undying Mercenaries.

Mark Boyett's narration is just as good as you've come to expect.

If you're looking for another Larson book, this will do, but it's just not any better than other military science-fiction. I'm not suggesting that you should give it a hard pass, but consider spending your money on something different whole you wait for another Undying Mercenaries sequel.

Larson, if you're reading this, please just focus on the UM series; maybe do a spinoff series about the early days of the Legions following the senior members of James' legion.

Enjoyable but somewhat predictable

I enjoyed this book. it was light-hearted with a wide range of characters. I could predict most upcoming scenes without too much trouble, which I suspect is a curse of mine. The narration was very good.
