Publisher's summary

"Wild, wicked, and wonderfully imaginative!" (Sylvia Day, New York Times best-selling author)

The Demonica series returns....

Warrior of Heaven... Reaver is an angel with a past, a record, and a less-than-heavenly attitude. Powerful enough to fight alongside the fiercest battle angels - and crazy enough to risk his wings on a one-way mission to hell - he's agreed to go where no angel has ever gone before…to steal the most seductive and dangerous prize of Satan himself….

Angel of Hell… Harvester is one of the Fallen, a once-heroic angel who sacrificed her wings to work as an undercover agent in hell. But now her cover has been blown, and she's doomed to an eternity of agonizing torture. Even if Reaver can snatch her away from Satan's lair, even if they can fight their way out of the underworld's darkest depths, there is one thing Harvester can never escape - her newfound thirst for an angel's blood….

Incredible Story/Unfortunate Narrator Choice

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Spectacular! I stayed up all night and finished this book in one long listen.

What other book might you compare Reaver to and why?

Best in the series so far! Can't wait for the next!!!

Did Helen Wick do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

I usually don't write reviews and usually don't have complaints about narrators even when others complain. But in this case, I really struggled with the narrator. Some of our long standing characters had some really odd accents that were not there before. And, our central characters (sem brothers/horsemen) were given voices that were so different it effected the flow of the story line. The narration just wasn't true to how they were originally portrayed by the author or their original narrators.

At this point in a long standing series, readers/listeners have well developed ideas about who the characters are and how they act and sound. Please stop switching narrators. It sets up the new narrator to be disliked and listeners for disappointment.

Narrator

Loved the story, HATED the narrator!! Her forced and faked accents were horrendous. Better to just leave them out.

The fiercest warrior angel, an unforgettable story

Reaver has always been one of my favorite characters! He is not what you expect from an Angel. He is a take no crud, in your face, the ends justify the means type of man. I have always wondered about his past but I was not prepared for all the truths revealed in this one! Oh my goodness! Who would have thought I would ever come to feel for Harvester?! Not me! Their story was unexpected, much needed, so loved and oh so hot and sweet! It is now my favorite in the Demonica / Lords of Deliverance stories!

Fabulous Story- Narrator Bothered Me...

Would you consider the audio edition of Reaver to be better than the print version?

I've read half this series in print and listened to half. I think I prefer the print versions. When the narrator's performance of a character's voice seems so far off the mark (ex. Eidolon) it really takes me out of the story.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Especially loved the scene when Harvester & Reaver returned Limos' and Eric's baby.

Any additional comments?

Fantastic start to the next part of this gripping series. Can't wait for more!

Please re-record this book with a better narrator

This review is to cover the narration. The book itself is good and has been covered by many other reviewers. I'm sure the narration issue has been covered but I just can't get over it.

Eidolon is shrill and doesn't sound anything like he should. He sounds manic and ridiculous.
Wraith and Sin are valley girl and surfer dude (wtf?).
Gem is from Jersey, the Bronx or New YAWK (?)
Ares is apparently from Spain and Cara is British?! She's from the US ffs.
Revenant is from Texas or the deep South which CLEARLY makes no sense at all considering he's a fallen angel and not human.
Metatron has a cockney accent mixed with a proper english accent, it's a mess.
Harvester and Reaver are thankfully done ok (thank goodness or I'd have quit listening altogether).

I guess the book is older at this point and so is this narration. So disappointing though. I'm new to the series.

WANTED: A Decent Narrator for this great story

Would you listen to Reaver again? Why?

Grudgingly because I love this story but don't like the narrator

What other book might you compare Reaver to and why?

That's a tough choice to make. If you like paranormal romance such as the Black Dagger Brotherhood series it would be a good comparison. There's grit, angst, humor and hot n steamy romance

What didn’t you like about Helen Wick’s performance?

I really didn't like her portrayal of the Sem Brothers (Eidolon, Shade n Wraith) who sound like prepubescent boys, Runa whose Bronx accent doesn't fit her character and Ares whose given some bizarre accent. It's very distracting and disappointing as I truly like these characters from her books in the Demonica series.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The last few scenes with Reaver and Harvester escaping from Sheol. The emotional bonds formed as they face off against past hurts, choose forgiveness and follow the path of love which helps them face dire conflicts ahead.

Any additional comments?

If you haven't purchased this audio version, I would simply read it, the story is very good and was worth the wait. I look forward to the next book in the series: Revenant, my only hope is Helen Wick WILL NOT be its narrator.

One of the Best

Reavers story is not only entertaining but finally answers all the questions we have been waiting for. To truly understand you have to start with Book 1 or you will be lost. I can't give a big enough review however the narrator was terrible as another fan said she made Dr. E sound like a cartoon character and others. Over all I highly recommend this book it's one of the best in the series. Happy Listening

Not impressed with Narrator

I love the series. I actually enjoyed the previous narrator but the voice attempt of Eidolon & Gem ruined it for me with this narrator. Eidolon sounded geeky and weak, completely out of character for the strong confident doctor and Gem developed a Jersey accent out of nowhere. This totally throws off the previous work and character development from earlier books in the series, almost like they are completely different characters entirely. It is distracting and disappointing.

I HATE how weak the heroines in this series are

She takes these bad ass women and then makes them love sick weak ass bitches. The heroes do horrible stuff to them and they stay mad for like 5 min and immediately forgive them or in some cases are the ones begging the heroes to be with them. It's so enraging because the story telling, world building, and characters are so amazing, but the heroines who start out bad ass women end up being completely weak idiots. Crying over a man after 5000 years?!!?! GTFO. Who tf is hung up on the same person for 5000 years?!?!? This asshole stomped all over her heart and after bitching at him for a couple pages she has sex with him. Yeah, go girl. Way to show his ass. Hard fucking eye roll!
