Probably my favorite fantasy story, Mercy is a strong female character. The Wolf Dominance issues are fun to explore.
Lorelei King was wonderful. She brought the story to life,
The plot was interesting enough to keep me reading, World building was not very good. Characters were good enough to not complain. Plot was good enough to keep me interested and had a twist that didn't allow me to know how the whole book would play out. Overall it s alright.
I love the first book of the Mercy Thompson Series...I listen to it over and over again. Mercy's introduction is fascinating from page one and Patricia Briggs introduces who she is and what her world is about in a way that you are always thirsty for more. As you continue to read the books in the series Mercy's world gets bigger and more interesting and your journey with the characters progressively becomes more insightful.
In this first book you are introduced to Mercy who is a mechanic and a shape shifter. You are also introduced to her world of the paranormal which I must say I love. Patricia Brigg's paranormal world is very inventive and imaginative. Spoiler: The Fae had to "come out" because a garden sprite was accused of murder and he couldn't have done it because he cannot hold iron without getting severely burned...the rest of the paranormal world are still thinking about coming out.
A young troubled boy asks Mercy for work which leads you into a story that has murder, attempted murder, abduction, magic, mystery, and mayhem all the while filling in some really interesting in depth back stories...Give it a listen...you will not be sorry. Oh and Ms. King is wonderful to listen to.
I am enjoying getting another view of this set of characters from the point of view of yet another strong female character. I have downloaded the next two to listen to while I work.
Moi_Natasha: So many Books, So little Time
The Reader was good but spoke quickly I had to change speed to x.5 to get a comfortable listen. She also mispronounced a couple of words which is a pet peeve.
Story was excellent.
It was pretty good overall. some of the wiring was cheesy, the way the characters talked didn't seem realistic all the time, but overall it was pretty good. I see a lot of potential, and look forward to getting further into the series. voice acting was decent, some of the lines seemed over acted, and the male voices of some minor characters were grating, but I thought she did good otherwise. I'd recommend it, just keep in mind it's the first book of a pretty long series.
The story was nice , but the narrations have me confused from time to time being some of the male parts sounded alike . Found myself relistening more then a few times .
