What do you even say about yourself on an audio book site? I like books? I don't have time to read anymore so I listen?
Yes! The Narrator does an amazing job! But I would have the selling point of saying I listened to all the books currently in the series (8) in a row.
I'm coming back to do reviews after listening all 8 books and it's hard to recall who would have been my favorite during the first book. I think I really liked Sam at this point in time but would probably change my answer to Stephen maybe. It's hard to say after how much they all change over the series.
Yes, did 8 books of the series in about a months time. I'm sure I did a few in close to one sitting.
The book is too good to just read the first one. Be ready to get a series that you want to absorb all of as quickly as possible.

Hmmm... There was very little action, very little comedy, very little suspense, and very little creativity. The story lacked everything that would make a story interesting. I mean the only suspense was created by me as I hoped each new chapter would be different from the last. Maybe I was just spoiled, after listening to the Grave Series, by Jeaniene Frost. A series that made this book seem like an after school special. This was just badddddd.... The only reason I didn't return the book was so that it would remind me of who not to get in the future...
The narration was the best part of the story...
I have listened to several audiobooks from Audible and of the ones that I have listened to I would say this book is a good solid four and a half out of five I was impressed because not many writers can write a series that has some of the same characters is another serious they have already produced and do it well. I was in pressed.
"Mercy what have you done to my French roast?"
Better then most.
I did very much enjoy this book overall I would give it a solid 4 it would have been nice to see someone doing the reading to put a little bit more emotion and difference in the characters voices but as I said is very good book and the performance by the narrator was a solid 4 out of 5 and today.
I thought the narrator did a great job telling the story. She used some impressive voices throughout, and can easily act both male and female characters. What I didn't like was that the story was full of what I'll call convenient facts. For instance, in this universe the werewolves don't change until their second full moon... Except in one case where it was convenient that the character DID change at the first full moon. Then it was because if a werewolf is mad enough, they will change at the first full moon. The book is littered with these convenient facts. I unfortunately did not finish the story because it really was dragging on with uninteresting plot points. I kept thinking "Why is the main character even significant in this scene? Why do all of these coincidences seem to keep occurring?" And eventually with just under 2 hours left to go in the book I decided to call it quits.
I'm not turned off from other books in this genre.
I haven't listened to any other performances by Lorelei King.
I kept thinking of the movie Underworld while reading this. It seems very similar, and could probably appeal to a decent number of people.

I really like Urban Fantasy. It was nice to get a new perspective in the form of Mercy Thompson. The narration was great, and no annoying voices.
I listen to a bit of everything. Mostly Fantasy and paranormal romance with my wife. Along with mysteries/thrillers, even some sci-fi.
This is a solid first book in the Mercy Thompson series. My wife and I really enjoyed it. The characters were good, the world was interesting and it kept moving. The book never slowed to a point where it got boring.
Mercy is just an auto mechanic specializing in older European cars VW, Audi, Porsche etc. She's also got the ability to turn into a coyote. She's friends with werewolves, some of the lesser fey and acquaintances with some vampires. She gets wrapped up in a mystery when a stray werewolf appears at her garage looking for work. Once the story gets going, it moves rather quickly.
Mercy's a pretty tough character, but Ms. Briggs doesn't turn her into a god. None of the characters are perfect and they all make mistakes. Mercy isn't swooning over every guys in the story and there's not much romance in this book. It's a solid urban fiction story not quite as good as the Dresden Files, but it's good nonetheless.
Lorelei King's narration is pretty solid, she doesn't knock it out of the park, but she doesn't hinder the story in any way either. It's a solid reading and I'd listen to her narrate other stories.
Overall, if you're looking for an Urban fantasy series that isn't the Dresden Files, then Mercy Thompson is a great place to go.
Acupuncture student with a long commute to school who loves quirky horror and sci-fi/fantasy
I love audio books and most are better than the print, I did not read the print but this book is great as an audio edition
faith hunter, jane yellow rock series, she is also a skin walker
she is great, but does have a slight lisp or maybe dentures? I could hear something in her voice, buy none the less she did a great job on the characters
Lorelei King, the reader, has an impressive résumé and a loyal following, but I believe she was miscast for this book. I was startled when it was revealed that Mercy was only 31 years old because the reader’s voice for Mercy is clearly that of a mature woman decades older, and perhaps a long-time smoker as well. I was also disappointed with the trite accent given the vampire.
And yes, this is another book with a mishmash of supernatural beings (various fey, vampires, werewolves, etc.) thrown in, so it will appeal to the widest audience possible. I know many found this book refreshing, but it strongly reminded me of the popular, and in my mind much better, Stephanie Plum series, even though the setting is very different.
I was disappointed and would not recommend the series to anyone except those who read every werewolf/vampire book on the market.
