Publisher's summary

Mercenary Kate Daniels and her mate, Curran, the Beast Lord, are struggling to solve a heartbreaking crisis. Unable to control their beasts, many of the Pack’s shape-shifting children fail to survive to adulthood. While there is a medicine that can help, the secret to its making is closely guarded by the European packs, and there’s little available in Atlanta. Kate can’t bear to watch innocents suffer, but the solution she and Curran have found threatens to be even more painful. The European shape-shifters who once outmaneuvered the Beast Lord have asked him to arbitrate a dispute - and they’ll pay him in medicine. With the young people’s survival and the Pack’s future at stake, Kate and Curran know they must accept the offer - but they have little doubt that they’re heading straight into a trap.…

I love the Kate Daniels Series

I SO enjoy this series so much (and just about every book written by this couple). The voice actor is my favorite too! She is SO good!! The main character Kate is a magic wielding kick butt kind of gal, with a good heart. Curran is a mighty Alpha Lion that will do anything for Kate, or to protect her, and his pack. I can’t get enough of this series and I hope the voice actor stays with the series all the way threw as they continue to write books. I loved the battle scenes and how detailed these books are, as I never get bored. It’s exciting and fun. They write so well, I feel like I am Kate while listening, and the adventures keeps me engaged all the way through. Btw, thanks for the bonus section at the end of the book.

Love, love, love

This book packed a serious punch. I mean they all seem to pack a punch, but this one was hardcore.

First I thought I was going to lose Curran as one of my favorite heroes....I'm relieved to say that didn't happen. He had some explaining to do and he did just that.

Kate was even more bad*** than her usual and that's saying a lot. I just love how deadly she is. Especially as the one being perceived as the weakest of the bunch. I jut get a kick out seeing her prove that theory wrong. Every time.

I also like how this book took us somewhere different. It was like a detour from the series for a bit of change but kept all the things we love about the series. This is one of my favorite books in the series so far...looking forward to reading more.

A must read!

If you have not read this series I believe you will enjoy the characters and the story. This part of series so far is the best, filled with a good mix of action and love story. Somewhat more towards the action which I'm glad about, however with that said I'm sure the listener will enjoy it no matter which they prefer.

Another great book!

What did you love best about Magic Rises?

Ilona Andrews writes characters that you can really get involved with.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Magic Rises?

I could feel Kate's emotions during the final battle and wished I could jump in and join the fight.

Which character – as performed by Renee Raudman – was your favorite?

I love all the characters in the Magic series, but Kate the ass kicker is right at the top of the list, side by side with Your Furriness.

Any additional comments?

This was another excellent addition to the Kate Daniels series. The story just keeps getting better and you can feel the approaching danger that Kate's future holds. Knowing she doesn't have to face that future alone makes it much less scary. Now I have to wait for the next book in the series. I just hope the wait isn't as long. But regardless of the wait time, I will still be a fan of the series and will snatch it up as soon as its available.

An Emotional Rollercoaster.

I have all the books in this series and love them all.

Renee' Raudman's Narration is Fantastic! Her voicing even the Males is excellent. She also captures the Ironic and Sardonic in the Voice of the characters.

I had this Book on Kindle Pre-order with Amazon and it was an Unexpected treat that i could get the Audible the same day.

I Love the way the Authors have been doing their Magic Research, and all the American and other countries Culture/Pop Culture (e.g. Bugs Bunny, W.E. Coyote, The Princess Bride and other things American, Russian/European, 3AM Час волка).

I love the Humour and the 3D feel of the characters.

Any Writer(s) that can actually put me [old cynic] on an Emotional Roller-Coaster have got it together. I love the characters and they are almost real to me.

Please keep this series alive, Thank you.

Let me get this out of the way; I normally do not read fun books or watch fun Movies with sad endings, if this was the only book of the series i had seen, i would have read the end first and not purchased it. This is ME and has nothing to do with the Writing or narration or story, I AM Weird that way. I have never watched the Movie "Titanic" cause the name gives the ending away. So this is not a critique of the Book or Series.

The Story Continues!

Would you listen to Magic Rises again? Why?

Yes, I am listening to it again now. There are all elements that make a story good plus the introduction of new characters to the mix, showing change tho the old and so on.

What about Renee Raudman’s performance did you like?

She continues to give a good preformance for the main characters. Her voice reflects action going on. The author has continued with her characters development & she does it smoothly. There are vague references to the other books her voice stimulates curiosity about them without interrupting the current story. She continues to reflect character interaction smoothly.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

There were parts of the story that made me very sad. Parts that led me to thinking down the wrong path as was intended. There were many parts that had me laughing. My main reaction was trying to figure out the character changes going on & where they were leading. Trying to remember the vague hints of character changes to see if they would lead any where in THIS book.

Any additional comments?

Too many times this far down a book series the characters start to become weak or change oddly in relation to the story. The supporting characters from previous books didn't take over parts of the story to fill in space. The book also didn't start to change into a series of vaguely related short stories or a novella trying to pass off as a full novel. That DIDN'T happen in this case. This book can be read alone as very excellent reading. The references to the other books are vague. There isn't a lot of time wasted on these references. Just enough time and reference to alert you to the other books & motivate one to investigate if interested. I have discovered many series that way. I enjoyed this long book so much that I started it & didn't finish it until 18 hours later. I had to pause for errands that I couldn't put off or delay. It isn't common for a book to keep up that long at my age. I also wasn't tempted to skip ahead. This episode in our main characters ended. Now I want the next book to hurry up!
