Publisher's summary

BOOK 2 IN THE IRON DRUID CHRONICLES

Atticus O’Sullivan, last of the Druids, doesn’t care much for witches. Still, he’s about to make nice with the local coven by signing a mutually beneficial nonaggression treaty - when suddenly the witch population in modern-day Tempe, Arizona, quadruples overnight. And the new girls are not just bad, they’re badasses with a dark history on the German side of World War II.

With a fallen angel feasting on local high school students, a horde of Bacchants blowing in from Vegas with their special brand of deadly decadence, and a dangerously sexy Celtic goddess of fire vying for his attention, Atticus is having trouble scheduling the witch hunt. But aided by his magical sword, his neighbor’s rocket-propelled grenade launcher, and his vampire attorney, Atticus is ready to sweep the town and show the witchy women they picked the wrong Druid to hex.

Fun Fun Fun!

I didn't find this one as good as the first, but that probably has more to do with being ill rather than the story. I do wish we could hear more of Oberon (PLEASE!) This wonderful Irish Wolfhound is soooo well done by both the author and the narrator! ("that's ok, you can just rub my belly the whole time") The narration is superb! Luke Daniels manages to move from well spoken Shakespeare to Irish Brogue to (what I call) head-bangin' stoner dude to seriously funny (and witty) Irish Wolfhound with apparent ease. Hearne is great with throwing in references to a wide range of classics from Hamlet to The Princess Bride. He refers to other authors with a natural and casual ease. This is a wonderful listen and I recommend it to anyone who would enjoy finding themselves unexpectedly laughing out loud!

Just as good as the first in the series!

This is a series worth reading if you like magic. Luke's narration voice seems to be perfect for this character.

No surprises...Listenable stuff

An interesting series that reminds me faintly of Butcher's Dresden. Not as crisp or refereshing as Butcher -- but this book certainly has its moments.

Narrator is outstanding -- especially when he's doing Oberon's voice.

The plot moves and I never found my attention wandering.

DON'T MISS A MINUTE OF THE SECOND BOOK...

This story continues for me in a wonderfully believable way. I loved the addition of other supernaturals into the story and Oberon continues to play a favorite of mine! I highly recommend this complete series to all, not the written version, you need to hear the different voices and the way the narrator uses inflection and tone to set the story perfectly! Very very good story in my library to stay!

Great urban fantasy

I like urban fantasy and this one is great. Love the narrator and his Oberon voice. Enough subtle humor to make it a pleasure to listen to.

It's a "Must read unless your boring!"

I highly recommend! The narrator really gives the characters personality, there is humor throughout the book, even during battles which makes the battles that much more exciting! There is so much action in this book I couldn't stop listening! Don't listen while in a quiet room full of people the humor will catch you off guard and the others in the room will think your nuts, because the laughter will escape!

Loved it!

I really enjoyed the first book in this series, Hounded. It was a no brainer for me to purchase this, the second in the series. It is rare for me to find a book that has so many characters that I like so much. The J.D. Robb In Death books along with the Kim Harrison Hollows books are examples of this. I'm not comparing writing styles here but am saying that they're examples of books where it's not just the main character that I want to get to know better. Each one of Hearne's characters is instantly brought to life in the pages of his books. The books wouldn't be the same without the widow, Oberon and Leif to name a few. Luke Daniels is a great narrator. It's hard sometimes to listen to books in different series that have the same narrator (i.e. this series and the Rothfuss series) but between Daniels' narration and Hearne's words, I don't have any difficulty keeping them separate. I have already purchased the next book, Hammered and can't wait for the next release on 4/28!!
