Taking various forms over the course of centuries and mythologies, often as flesh-devourers, werewolves now commonly appear in fantasy and romance novels as shape-shifters. The shape-shifting element in werewolves' stories has almost humanized them, depicting the internal struggles we all face within ourselves, on some level or another.

Hot!!

Would you consider the audio edition of Heart of Obsidian to be better than the print version?

I love this book and all the books in the series.. Some are a little slower than others but I still love the books. They are all full of playful flirting, strong women, and hot romance.

What does Angela Dawe bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She is great at adding emotions to each character and she does a great job.

So goooood!

I have been committed to this series, and I feel like this book was my reward. The planning that went in to this series is astounding and so many things come together in this book. Some of her pairings don't work so well (I had a particularly hard time getting through both Max's and Dev's books - cooincidentally two pairings which did not include much Changeling activity) and this book doesn't capture the Changeling perspective but was not lacking for it at all.
to all fans of the series: this is what you have been waiting for!

What a haunting novel

What did you love best about Heart of Obsidian?

The rediscovering of the relationship of the two protagonists. The story makes hope and declares struggling to overcome deep emotional hurts and abuse is rewarding. The sexuality describe develops a tantric quality.

Which scene was your favorite?

I really like the technic of describing one scene from the view points of the two participants. It brings out character and describes motivation. Nalini used this technic once on one scene, so it does not lengthen the story or makes the repeat boring.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes

Great addition, keep em' coming.

A little slow to start up, but it picks up after a while. This book is about Kaleb Krychek and Sahara from the Nightstar clan, it drove me nuts that it didn't tell in the summary. I missed the changelings in this story. It refers to them but they didn't show up till almost half way through. As usual this book delivers just like the others. This wasn't my favorite in the series but it was far from the worst and a lot of loose ends are cleared up nicely. The Psy-Changling series is an automatic download for me, although I am not a fan of the Angel series. Do not start out with this one if you are a new comer, these books need to be read in order.

One of the best yet!!

What made the experience of listening to Heart of Obsidian the most enjoyable?

It's been clear from several books back that there is more to Kaleb than being Stone-Cold-Council. Ms Singh has had him tagged for sometime as an enigma we should know more about so it was about time we got his story. And since I am a sucker for the tortured, silent type it was Game On from Page 1.

What other book might you compare Heart of Obsidian to and why?

If anything it reminded me of Mine to Possess (Clay and Talin), since we were dealing with characters who had a past together, but now need to navigate their way back to each other, and find resolution from drama in the past.

Did Angela Dawe do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

I think this book was a lot easier for her because there were fewer characters in the books, so she didn't have to do fifty shades of raspy voice to represent all the dogs and cats (in some of the other books in the series you couldn't have paid me to guess who was supposed to be talking because everyone sounded alike, men and women included).

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I got really excited about how things are left off at the end of the book, and what that means for the next installment in the series. I see from the author website at least 2 more are slated for release. Fingers crossed one of them is about Aiden or Vasic, or both!

Any additional comments?

Maybe it's a reflection of the autonomous lifestyles of the Psy, but after all of the back-and forth in the last two books between the main love interest characters and the other relationships we kept checking in on, this book felt very isolated, for lack of a better word. We didn't hear about how any of the changelings were doing - this was all Kaleb and Sahara. I was totally caught up so this is not a complaint, more observation. But again, maybe there is a conscious decision based on the lifestyles of the main characters. (The previous two were Wolfy, and they are all types of intermingled with each other, so I can see why the structure of the novel would reflect as much.)

What A Ride!!!!

I normally don’t do reviews, just as the main man in this fantastic book doesn’t really do love.

But I can guarantee that there is nothing about this book that will leave you unsatisfied. The sex is steamy, the storyline insane with it’s twists and turns through the dark hardness that is Kaleb (with Sahara acting as an absolutely perfect foil with her lightness and generosity of spirit). Nalini Singh did such an excellent job examining the essence of humanity that I found myself having some serious self contemplation time. 10/10 would listen again!!!!
