Of course, I love the series and the author.
When Sahara and Kaleb discussed that fateful night, I won't mention it in detail to prevent any spoilers.
Both, and throw n some surprise, anger and outrage to the mix.
With all the mentions of Kaleb in the previous books, I knew Ms. Singh was going to write a phenomenal story for Kaleb. I was not disappointed, this story was so intense and Sahara and Kaleb are truly two sides of the same beautiful coin. Another well done job, and I cannot wait until the story continues in 2014.
I love thei series and this author and narrator just do it for me. I was unsure a story about two Psy would work but should have known Ms Singh would not only pull it off but make this story my favorite !!
If you've lasted up to this point oblivious to whom this book is about, I urge you to look away, now.
I won't give away the identity of the ghost or the identity of the main girl, but I do say who the main male is in this story.
Book after book fans have speculated as to the true motives of Kaleb Krycheck. Young, lethal, and ambitious he swept through the pages with strength and power deadly to any in opposition. His intelligence combined with his dual cardinal abilities, physical strength, and meticulous patience makes him a dangerous force. He can level the world with just a thought. The story unfolds in the most beautiful and heartbreaking way. Weaving in and out of a broken mind to mend pieces together to tell a tale of young love and the devotion only someone with the will and fortitude of a man on a mission can display. Kaleb is so much more than the minute glimpses of his character we have seen throughout the series. Underneath the cool and calculated facade lies a tortured soul searching for the only salve that has been his focal point, a woman he's spent years searching for and once he finds her, he will lay waste to the lands if they every take her from him again.
This is the 12th book in this phenomenal series and it absolutely blew my mind...and my heart right out of their designated spaces from within my body. A lot has happened throughout the series and when we get to this point we have already seen camaraderie across the species while they work together to fight off the threats from the Pure Psy group. The conflict carries over into this tale with the enemy desperate in their attempts making them even more dangerous and destructive. Additionally there is something corrupting the NetMind threatening the entire psy race that is linked to it. Kaleb is at the focal point of all this chaos being the only one strong enough to stabilize the NetMind in the capacity that is needed and powerful and connected enough to fight Pure Psy’s deadly ploys.
As a fan of the series (it is one of the best PNR series out there), I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Even after how many books in the series, Nalini still manages to write a unique tale of romance and love with the elements of paranormal equally interesting. My only negative comment is the revelation of the ghost. It was rather uneventful, although it could've been because I sort of knew who the ghost was by process of elimination.
Narrator: Angela Dawe
I love that the same narrator has read for all of the books in the series. It keeps the story consistent especially since I have listened to all of the books in this series. Dawe does a great job with character distinction and pace of the narration.
Heart of Obsidian was a story of lost love, which I’ve come to realize that I very much love. If you have followed along with this series, Kaleb has been around for a while now. He is a double Cardinal TK (teleporter) which is so powerful that it’s really unheard of. Silence has helped him reel in all that power and keep it under a tight lid. He is also the protegee of serial killer, Enrique Santano.
Kaleb for the last several books has been searching for someone, although we weren’t sure who he was search for. We find out in Heart of Obsidian that he was searching for Sahara. After 7 long years he has found her. Sahara and Kaleb knew each other as children and she was Kaleb’s ONLY friend. Throughout the series, Kaleb has been the perfect silent Psy. It’s interesting to hear his POV in this book and realize how he has never really been silent.
After 7 years of being captive Sahara was completely broken. She went from a broken shell of a woman to a very powerful woman that is her own force to be reckoned with. She is the perfect match for Kaleb. The fact that she tamed this alpha male with a heart of obsidian at the age of 7 is just short of amazing. Her powers are pretty cool and remind me of Enrique Santano’s powers, which can be used for good or for evil.
Psy and Changelings are still fighting the Pure Psy group and find themselves joining forces for the better good of the world.
This story did remind me a little but of Judd from (Caressed by Ice-book 3). Judd and Kaleb have a lot of the same qualities. Although Kaleb is certainly more extreme, I kept wishing that he’d approach Judd and ask him how he broke silence. Even though it didn’t happen I was glad there were cameo’s with Judd in the book.
Another great installment, it wasn’t my favorite but I very much enjoyed it.
Narrator- Angela Dawe was also the narrator for Tangle of Need (book 11) which I very much enjoyed. She did a good job with the narration. When she does the male voices her voice tries to go so deep that I normally have to turn the volume up because I can’t hear her that well. I did also decide to pick up the pace on the narration to 1.25x speed.
Fourth time reading it and I still feel the same. Loved the characters. Loved the storyline. Loved everything!
I had read this once before and was excited to listen to it read aloud. What a disappointment! This person should be reading math texts where her lack of inflection and annoying cadence wouldn't matter. I really tried to get past it but it ruined the entire story.
loved it! I was hoping for a Caleb story and this didn't disappoint! great story!
I have read this entire series more than twice and it is one of my favorite audiobooks. I couldn't wait until it was released and I can truly admit that it was worth the wait. Ms Singh is a wonderful author and her books are always on my much have list. I highly recommend this book and this series.
