Publisher's summary

BOOK 3 IN THE IRON DRUID CHRONICLES

Thor, the Norse god of thunder, is worse than a blowhard and a bully - he’s ruined countless lives and killed scores of innocents. After centuries, Viking vampire Leif Helgarson is ready to get his vengeance, and he’s asked his friend Atticus O’Sullivan, the last of the Druids, to help take down this Norse nightmare.

One survival strategy has worked for Atticus for more than two thousand years: stay away from the guy with the lightning bolts. But things are heating up in Atticus’s home base of Tempe, Arizona. There’s a vampire turf war brewing, and Russian demon hunters who call themselves the Hammers of God are running rampant. Despite multiple warnings and portents of dire consequences, Atticus and Leif journey to the Norse plain of Asgard, where they team up with a werewolf, a sorcerer, and an army of frost giants for an epic showdown against vicious Valkyries, angry gods, and the hammer-wielding Thunder Thug himself.

“Kevin Hearne breathes new life into old myths, creating a world both eerily familiar and startlingly original.”(Nicole Peeler, author of Tempest Rising)

The Action Continues

Any additional comments?

I absolutely love all the characters and the relationships between Atticus and each one of them. I simply love Oberon and the Widow MacDonagh. The wit and sarcasm of the characters makes these books fun to read.

Another great listen.

Luke Daniels is great, story is great. If I had 2 minor gripes, it would be that Luke's voice sometimes changes between chapters, like you can tell when its the next morning, week, etc that he starts the recording again. Maybe he had a cold, idk, just obvious. After a few minutes, he's back to normal, maybe his voice just needed a warm up.

And the other minor thing, b/c of the writing style, sometimes it's hard to tell if Atticus is speaking aloud or to himself.

I like the author's irreverent sense of humor.

Have you listened to any of Luke Daniels’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Only the ones in this series.

Thought it'd be bad...but wasn't

Third novel our intrepid Druid goes after Thor and Asgard. As hokie as this sounds the author pulls it off. Better brush up on your Norse (and other ) mythologies. Fun light reading.

Really, about 3 1/2 stars

In a previous review I mentioned that I felt that each subsequent book got a little bit worse (or perhaps I should say not quite as good as the preceding book). I still stick to that. And after having read the 4th one, it continues true to form.
The story is enjoyable, but not much to it. Luke Daniels does a fine job of narrating and Kevin Hearne brings a lot of life and humor to the characters.
As the other books in the series, if you're looking for an entertaining book with a good, but not too deep story, check this one out. If you're looking for a great literary work ,you might want to look elsewhere.

I love this guy!

This was another great story and I hate that I am done with the series, I wish there were more. The only regret I have about this story is not enough Oberron... I really got to love that Irish Wolfhound, maybe in the next one. I will be anxiously awaiting the next story in the chronicle. I sure hope there is one!
