Publisher's Summary

For decades, inexplicable technology has passed into our world through the top secret anomaly called the Breach.

The latest device can punch a hole into the future....

What Paige Campbell saw when she opened a door into 70 years from now scared the hell out of her. She and her Tangent colleagues brought their terrible discovery to the President and were met with a hail of automatic gunfire after leaving the White House. Only Paige survived.

Fearing a terrifying personal destiny revealed to him from the other side of the Breach, Travis Chase abandoned Tangent...and Paige Campbell. Now he must rescue her because Paige knows tomorrow's world is desolate and dead, a ghost country scattered with the bones of billions. And Doomsday will dawn in just four short months...unless they can find the answers buried in the ruins to come.

But once they cross the nightmare border into Ghost Country, they might never find their way back....

    "Worth the time"

I just want to say, this book does not disappoint. No it is not comparable to The Breach, it is just as entertaining. I rated this as 5 stars based on all the negative reviews I had read on here. I went in with a semi open mind and it did not disappoint. Enjoy

    "Good Story, Great Reader."

I stumbled onto the Breach Series because of Jeff Gurner. He's a great reader, IMHO.

This book was a good action packed thrill ride, but I didn't like it as much as the first book in the series. The story is fun and the tech that Lee invents in his books tend to be creative and fantastic. His writing reminds me a little of Daniel Suarez, but that might due to Jeff Gurner reader both authors for the audio version.

My one complaint with this book is that the author tended to leave the reader hanging, over and over again. The characters can't believe what they are seeing, but the reader has to wait another few paragraphs before they find out what it is. In some instances that is okay, but it felt overused.

For what it's worth, I did listen to this in two sittings. I had a 5 hour car trip and listened to half going one way and half going back home. I probably could (should) have taken a break or two from the action, but it was intriguing enough to keep me entertained for the whole ride.

There were a few plot points which were predictable to the outsider, but it makes sense that certain characters wouldn't be thinking in those terms in the heat of the moment, so I won't fault him for anything like that.

If you're into the tech thriller genre, or if you just love hearing Jeff Gurner read, this book is worth adding to your library.

    "In your face"
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

I had a hard time listening to the reader. A bit in your face. Also, while the story line was good, there were abrupt changes that lost me for a while and no real character development. While I enjoy good action adventure I like to get to know the players a little more.

Would you be willing to try another book from Patrick Lee? Why or why not?

I might try another book by this author if it had a different reader.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

I thought he was too abrupt, too strong a voice. It might have been what was required by the tone the author wished to create, but I found it unpleasant and I was easily distracted from the story.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

I liked the idea of the story, but because I was so distracted while listening to the reader's voice, I often lost the thread.

    "The Breach continues"

For fans of The Breach, this is a wonderful ( but short ) continuation. Likely abit difficult for folks who haven't already read ( and enjoyed ) The Breach, it extends the characters, and the story, onwards, whilst leaving the door open for another sequel ( do I hear a series in the making? ).
Abit of a stretch in terms of rationale perhaps, but overall enjoyable, and worth the credit and the time.
