"McCaffrey continues to amaze with her ability to create disparate, well-realized worlds and to portray believable humans, convincing aliens of varied sorts, and credible interactions between them all. A very satisfying tale." (Booklist)
"McCaffrey provides a useful plot recap, and this entry - somewhat more conclusive than its predecessors - offers proven allures for series fans." (Kirkus Reviews)
I particularly like Anne McCaffrey books and this is as good as her Pern series. I think she could have gone on and added to this series.
None in particular
Probably nothing special
I enjoy Anne McCaffrey and having the books available on audio enhances the experience, though I do tend to go for books I have read before. The Freedom is among my favorites. I did prefer Susie Breck alone or combined with Dick Hill to Dick Hill alone.
I would and will listen to this book again. I really enjoyed the story.
I liked the team of characters in the first landing.
I listen to books at work and enjoyed it for a couple days.
I enjoy stories of people who overcome odds and fight for their freedom and prosper. I enjoyed this story.
Against great technology, and overwhelming strength of their adversaries, several Alien species including Humans have been dropped on a Planet full of dangers. They ban together into a community for their own safety. But now that they have a modicum of comfort etched out in this new world, what is the next step?
Who is the real enemy and who else occupies their new "home"?
Susie Breck and Dick Hill make for a comprehensive cast.
I liked Anne McCaffrey when I was a child. I read all the dragon books. I decided to listen to these books because of those fond memories. I was disappointed. The character development is sophomoric and without good wit. The plot had holes and lacked the technical details that make Science fiction so rich and compelling.
