Publisher's summary

Terry Goodkind, author of the enormously popular Sword of Truth novels, has forged perhaps his best yet, pitting Richard Rahl and Kahlan Amnell against threats to the freedom of the world. They both must struggle at opposite ends of the earth against the relentless, monolithic forces of the Imperial Order.

A Sister of the Dark captures Richard and takes him deep into the Old World, to the very heart of the Order, while his beloved Kahlan remains behind. Free because of Richard's sacrifice for her, but unwilling to abandon the cause of the Midlands, Kahlan violates not only prophecy but her last pledge to Richard, and raises an army against the advancing horde of the Imperial Order. Separated and fighting for their lives, Richard and Kahlan will be pushed to the limits of their endurance and tested in their love for one another.

Once again, the master storyteller weaves a riveting spell that will captivate even more fans for this incredible series.

"Notable for its engaging secondary characters, the novel also evinces flashes of sly wit....Goodkind's ingenious world-building will keep readers captivated." ( Publishers Weekly)
"Kenneth's narration follows the intensity of the plot through battles and hardship, as well as dreams of love and caring human relationships. With Kenneth as guide, this book never lags." ( AudioFile)

Powerfully and Beautifully Written!!!

Terry Goodkind is a writer genius. His ability to express and invoke the deepest of human emotions through his telling of both the good and the bad of humanity and the individuals who make up its whole, is plainly put... AWESOME!

Well written story, narration lacking

Faith of the Fallen is Terry Goodkind's most obviously Objectivist work, so if Atlas Shrugged bothered you, this one will too. That said, if the concepts that are blatantly, obviously and repeatedly preached herein don't put you off too much, it's a well crafted story with excellent characters and an interesting world. John Kenneth's narration, on the other hand, is not up to snuff. Admittedly, names in fantasy can often be hard to pronounce, but the fact that he changes pronunciation on at least one name midway through the book is VERY off-putting. One of the main characters has a name that is pronounced in a way that doesn't really make sense given its spelling, but every other narrator who has tackled this series managed to get it right, and he doesn't. While I'm a fan of the book, the inconsistencies and errors in narration are somewhat jarring.

Wonderful Story

This is my favorite book yet! The feeling of confidence and hope from the two main characters in situations of bleak depression is inspiring. And the sense of one dim light in a world reveling in it's hopelessness and resignation to thrive into fire is amazing to see. I can't wait to see what is in store for the future.

So far, the best in the series!

An absolutely fantastic tale in the Sword of Truth series. While there others have been very good (if you can tolerate Goodkind's descriptions of sexual violence from time to time), Faith of the Fallen strikes an emotional chord that resonates intensely. While, as a reader, you know there must be some reasonable outcome to the storyline, Goodkind did an amazing job making you wonder if ever such a resolution may come. The despair felt by some of the characters in this tale seems infectious to the reader, until he brings it all to a masterful conclusion.

There are fewer scenes of intense sexual violence in this installment than there were in earlier works, and I, for one, am thankful for that. Personally, I prefer an author who can paint such violence without direct description, but I cannot fault a masterful storyteller for being true to his voice.

Amazing!

Beautiful narration...my only complaint is that Zed sounded too old compared to all of the other narrators renditions....but all else was freaking top notch.

Crap performance

The reader sounds as though he’s reading to a small child. Does not convey the proper tone, mood, or inflection.

masterpiece

One of the best entries in the series. The change in who is reading each book is a let down, because the names and such are not bnb pronounced the same from book to book.
