Publisher's summary

Audie Award Finalist, Paranormal, 2014

The ever after, the demonic realm that parallels our own, is shrinking, and if it disappears, so does all magic. It’s up to witch-turned-daywalking-demon Rachel Morgan to fix the ever-after before the fragile balance between magic users and humans fails.

Of course, there’s also the small fact that she caused the ley line to rip in the first place, and her life is forfeit unless she can fix it. And that the most powerful demon in the ever after - the soul-eater Ku'Sox Sha-Ku'ru - has vowed to destroy Rachel, and has kidnapped her friend and goddaughter as leverage. If Rachel doesn’t give herself up, they will die.

Forced by circumstance, Rachel teams up with elven tycoon Trent Kalamack - a prospect fraught with dangers of the heart as well as betrayal of the soul - to return to the ever after and rescue those she loves.

Both worlds teeter on the brink, one on a possible interspecies war, the other for its very existence, and it’s up to Rachel to keep both from being destroyed.

Ever read a book 50 pages too long!!

Would you consider the audio edition of Ever After to be better than the print version?

I have never read the print version

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

Most - Biz finally getting some print time. Least - Nick, just kill the guy and put us all out of our misery

What does Marguerite Gavin bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Marguerite has the ability to play so many different characters. It is what keeps this overly long book interesting

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Siri died.

Any additional comments?

We could save a couple hours of listening by just reducing the number of times Rachel says "I'm Sorry" and "Thank you" Most dramatic reflections (such as "do I trust Trent") are overdone. They are longer than they need to be. Even after that I will continue to listen. I like the characters. Hopefully Kim will not screw things up by significantly changing the three primary characters current living and work storyline.

One of the best in the series

What made the experience of listening to Ever After the most enjoyable?

Marguerite Gavin is one of the best. She really brings Kim Harrison's characters to life. Her interpretation is consistent and engaging. I purchased this book from audible and in ebook format - it was that good.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Ever After?

Rachel's character development throughout the book is notable; it is apparent that she is finally learning to stand on her own two feet when it comes to her magic and, perhaps more importantly, emotionally. My favorite scene in the book takes place in Trent's spelling hut. My favorite moment specifically is when Rachel and Trent realize the side effects of restoring his missing fingers.

Which character – as performed by Marguerite Gavin – was your favorite?

Rachel is always my favorite character as performed by Marguerite Gavin. The voice she gives to the character really brings her to life. Its to the point that I hear Ms. Gavin in my head when I reread any of the Hollows books.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I definitely wanted to listen to this book all in one sitting even though I had already read it (I did read it all in one sitting as soon as it was delivered to my Kindle).

Any additional comments?

The book itself is awesome. Marguerite Gavin's narration is amazing. This is definitely a worthwhile investment for any Hollows fan.

Another Hallows Masterpiece

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I have been a fan of Rachel and her crew for years. Unlike many other series', this book is near the end of the series, and it doesn't feel forced. The details are beautifully crafted, and I feel as if another peice of the puzzle has been placed. I love the finally budding relationship with Trent. Most of all, while I love reading the books, I love hearing Margaruite Gavin. She is by far my favorite voice actor. Bravo on all parts!

What did you like best about this story?

Ah, the romance between Rachel and Trent!

Which character – as performed by Marguerite Gavin – was your favorite?

She is Rachel! But my close second is Al. Margaruite rocks!!!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

When Ku'sox has the last baby boy, and it all goes down hill. I bawled.
