Publisher's summary

Katie Chandler had always heard that New York is a weird and wonderful place, but this small-town Texas gal had no idea how weird until she moved there. Everywhere she goes, she sees something worth gawking at and Katie is afraid she's a little too normal to make a splash in the big city. Working for an ogre of a boss doesn't help. Then, seemingly out of the blue, Katie gets a job offer from Magic, Spells, and Illusions, Inc., a company that tricks of the trade to the magic community. For MSI, Katie's ordinariness is an asset. Lacking any bit of magic, she can easily spot a fake spell, catch hidden clauses in competitor's contracts, and detect magically disguised intruders. Suddenly, average Katie is very special indeed. She quickly learns that office politics are even more complicated when your new boss is a real ogre, and you have a crush on the sexy, shy, ultra powerful head of the R&D department, who is so busy fighting an evil competitor threatening to sell black magic on the street that he seems barely to notice Katie. Now it's up to Katie to pull off the impossible: save the world and - hopefully - live happily ever after.

Great start to a great series!

What did you love best about Enchanted, Inc.?

Fun, lighthearted romp through Shanna Swendson's wonderful world. Katie is an endearing heroine, and I genuinely like all of the characters surrounding her.

What does Eva Wilhelm bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I wasn't sure about Eva Wilhelm's voice at first... When I read the books, I basically skipped over Katie's Texas accent in my head, so it was strange to hear it when Katie speaks, since she doesn't use it when she's narrating as Katie. But she keeps it pretty mild, and after a few minutes of listening, I stopped noticing it.

Any additional comments?

Check out this series. It has a lot of heart, a lot of humor, and is just an entertaining read (or listen)!

Great fun!

Wasn't sure when I first started this book if I would like it. Seemed so serious, what with the rude boss and all. Then it got into the fun. Gargoyles. I like gargoyles. Especially talking ones. And frogs into princes. Like it so much I just bought book 2 in the series. Highly entertaining.

I did like it BUT ---

This was a cute, light-hearted book with some interesting characters. That said, the narration was pretty awful. I felt like I was listening to Maxwell Smart from the old "Get Smart" TV series instead of a girl-next-door trying to hide her accent in New York City.

The story itself felt very YA. The main character goes from being a nobody to an instant MVP in a job she's only had a week and supposedly super-powerful people hang on her every word and think her average ideas are pure genius. She's so "valuable" the bad guys (who turn out to be highly ineffectual and lame) target her but her new buddies are always there to save her. And of course, there's the love interest who is "so far out of her league" she dismisses it, but you won't buy it for a second longer than I did.

So if you don't want to think too hard or be dazzled by any big plot twists, you'll like this book. Every problem has a super convenient solution that just seems to fall into place like, say.... magic.

Fun story!

My daughter and I loved listening to this story! SO much fun and pretty clean except for a minimum light cursing.

Love Enchanted inc

I have been waiting for for a long time for the enchanted series to be published on audio. I enjoyed the story but the narrator could've been better doing voices. The over exaggeration of the country accent was over-the-top which is what brought the narrator's abilities down for me. Overall once you get used to the bad accents the book is really enjoyable. But my support is for for the product that the author published so i will still get the rest of the books. Just because i enjoy the books.

Interesting, funny, view of Magic.

I like the story and the characters in the story. The Narrator was ok. It was hard at first getting into the story with her voice.Since one is exposed to so many great narrators who do a better job of changing their voice to match the different characters with in a book. However once pass that and into the story, you find fun and likable characters. This is a story that gives the view point of a person who does not have any Magic but finds that she lives in a world with magic and it does exist. The main character thinks that the city of New York modern day is weird! Folks walking around with wings and moving gargoyles. She is told that she has the ability to see magic being without the glamor is a very important ability. And there in is how the story unfolds. It's a fun read. I intend to go on to the next book because of the fun and quirky main characteres and the adventure filled world created by the Author.

I don't know which I loved more, the actual quirky content of the story or the narration! This was a perfect escape.

Different twist to paranormal

I really enjoyed this book, and it had no steamy love scenes or fast happening action scenes. It did however have very good character development and a strong story that swept me in and kept me interested. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves paranormal fiction, but is burned out on the same story different day plots
