I love this book! It was long-awaited, but what a great listen! I love the humanity that Harris' gives to the normally cold and self-absorbed Eric. I am actually reading it a second time, since I have finished the series. I can not wait until May!
I love the book series and I love the audio series! Charlaine Harris can tell a great story. Sookie is awesome! I love Johanna Parker's voice,it is just how I imagined Sookie sounding. Looking forward to the entire audio series!
I was kinda lost when my favorite vampire book series came to an end because the author found Religion. But Thanks to HBO's new series True Blood a new door opened, an awesome book series, C Harris Thank you! I have a New favorite Vampire series to read, listen, and watch I can't wait til C Harris #9 book in the Sookie Saga. I look forward to it! I think you will too!
Im a machinist. Listening to audiobooks at work get me thru my day. I listen mostly to mysteries but also like sci-fi and spy thrillers
I was always a fan of the Anne Rice Vampire Cronicles and for many years I have been hoping to find another vampire series that I would enjoy as much. I thought I had found it with this series but I was wrong. I enjoyed the first book a lot but each book has gotten a little worse. I am a third of the way through this book and I don't think I could be happier that my credits came today so I can move on to something else.(went with the new James Lee Burke) Sookie has becomes such a pig I can't take it anymore. Anytime she gets around a man that is even half way good looking she is so wet my Ipod is dripping. I don't know if the author is doing some sort of womans lib. thing or what but it is so disturbing to listen to her whine over whether she should screw this one or whack off that one. I cant take it. Why isn't Fabio on the cover of these books because that is what this series has become, second rate romance novels. I don't need chapter after chapter of sexual episodes and sexual tension. These are supposed to be mystery novels. Charlaine Harris isn't that very good of a writer to begin with but I hope she can get back to weaving a descent story in the next book. I am sure I will finish this book because I hate not finishing a book but I am in no rush. Don't get me wrong the sex scenes are very steamy and hot but that is not what I am looking for when I am listening at work. I think a lot of the guys in the machine shop I work at don't want to see me walking around with a "Stake" of my own. Hope she gets back to mystery end of the stories in the later books.
This is my first audiobook and my favorite book of this particular series. Being able to listen to it while cooking or walking is great. The narrator was very good and I was totally absorbed in the story.
I used the i-tunes download method. It was really easy and I'm no techie. Great product.
Have seen the true blood series on HBO and enjoyed. A big Dark Shadows fan and really enjoyed T.B.. This book more or less takes place after the last season. I listened to and the narrator sounds so much like Sookie from the show it uncannie. I usually do not like female readers, they do not do men voices well but J. Parker does a good job. In fact she does a great job all around. From the show I can picture the characters in my head and really enjoy the book more for it. I have ended up getting the whole series.
Charlaine Harris spins such a tale, you can't help but to become enchanted. Her character development is flawless. A fun lift of the spirit that will keep you biting at the bit.
