    "Addicted"

I am surprised to say this, but I think I love this series more than Twilight. I couldn't wait for more credits so I bought the rest of the series. This is a first for me. Try it, you'll like it.

    "Funny and addictive"

Actually I rate it 4.5. I love Charlaine Harris and the Sookie Stackhouse series. Sookie is like a telepathic Ellie May with a bit more wisdom. Her inner dialogue is witty and fresh. The sexual enuendos are funny and reveal a normal, lusty young woman who just happens to get turned on by vampires. My only criticism is that the chemistry between Eric & Sookie is not as tender and intimate as the one between Bill & Sookie when they first began a relationship. I have read all of this series as well as the ones with Harper Connelly............looking forward to more of those!

    "Erik, you big hunk."

Again Sookie is having supernatural problems. Erik shows up in jeans and no memory and Jason winds up missing. What is a gal to do? Well Sookie takes on a coven of witches for one. Lots of great characters and I just love Erik. Both his normal smart ass self and his cursed sweet self. This is my favorite book out of the entire series, but I also like book 7 a lot. I also enjoy the narrator Johanna Parker, in my opinion she does a settle southern accent which I enjoy listening to.

    "Love Charlaine's Southern Vampire Series"
What made the experience of listening to Dead to the World the most enjoyable?

I'm a major Sookie fan so I may be a bit prejudiced! The books are best done in numerical as each builds and refers to the previous book. Hope Johanna Parker stays healthy since I can't imagine anyone else reading these stories. She sounds very much like Anna Paquin on True Blood. I usually read the book first and then listen to it. It's amazing to me how many things I've missed when reading.

What other book might you compare Dead to the World to and why?

    Any other Charlaine Harris book!

Have you listened to any of Johanna Parker’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

    Yes & Very well!

"This may be the best of the series"

This book was so great. All of these books so far have been amazing, but this one really kicks it into gear. Charlaine's story and Johanna Parker's narration drew me in and engaged me like always. The added tension and sexual chemistry between Sookie and Erik really top it all off though and push this book right past the previous 3.

    "Good One!!!"
Would you consider the audio edition of Dead to the World to be better than the print version?

Absolutely!!! I love the audio book experience much much more than actual having to read it myself....lol I guess I am lazy...hahahaha!

What did you like best about this story?

Eric! I love it when he loses his memory...It was great on True Blood, and even better in the book....and I also really like the friendship Pam and Sookie are building....its a very interesting dynamic....

What about Johanna Parker’s performance did you like?

    she was superb as always!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I probably would have if I could have...this was a really good one...

    Any additional comments?

I hope #5 is just as good....and will be listening to it here real soon....Thanks Audible!

"Best Book for the Eric Northman Fans"

If you like the Eric Northman character, you'll LOVE him after this book. As a Eric fan, this was my favorite out of all of the Sookie Stackhouase books. It was a fun to listen to this book, at times I actually found myself laughing out loud. Johanna Parker is a fantastic narrator, and does a perfect Sookie.....(at least in the 1st 4 books, I was disappointed with the 5th) Having read all the books, I was not sorry about purchaching the audiable versions. They are a blast listening to. I highly recommend listening to the audio books, if you are a Sookie Stackhouse fan.

I like Jack Reacher style characters regardless of setting. Put them in outer space, in modern America, in a military setting, on an alien planet... no worries. Book has non moralistic vigilante-justice? Sign me up! (oh, I read urban fantasy, soft and hard sci-fi, trashy vampire and zombie novels too)

    "Familiar but engaging storyline."

Well, I think this is the most sexually graphic one so far. I have to say though, that I don't really like the Eric in this novel - who wants to have sex with such a puppy-dog?

I like this series quite a bit: the story line doesn't vary much: bad supernatural occurrences drag Sookie (and/or her family and/or her current lover) into trouble and she survives via a combination of good luck and the help of other supernatural beings.

Oh, and she gets some (pretty decent) sex too.

Really, what more does one expect when they pick up a novel like this? The narration is the same as the first books in the series: spot on for Sookie and identifiable for everyone else.
