Critic reviews

"There is zombie fiction and then there is crawl-out-of-the-grave-and-drag-you-to-hell zombie fiction. Day by Day Armageddon is hands down the best zombie book I have ever read. Dawn of the Dead meets 28 Days Later doesn't even come close to describing how fantastic this thriller is. It is so real, so terrifying, and so well written that I slept with not one, but two loaded Glocks under my pillow for weeks afterwards. J. L. Bourne is the new king of hardcore zombie action!" (Brad Thor, New York Times #1 best-selling author)

Good not great

Would you try another book from J L Bourne and/or Jay Snyder?

Probably not. I wasn't a fan of the writing style. WAY too detailed.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

The survival aspects were interesting but parts of it were too convenient. What are the chances they find a secret bunker....and it happens to be unlocked...There were too many details about the wrong things. I understand that it is supposed to be written in journal form but there's a better way to do it without dragging on an on.

What about Jay Snyder’s performance did you like?

It was well read in a way that wasn't too corny.

Did Day By Day Armageddon inspire you to do anything?

No

Really Okay

This was a good book, but not as great, in my opinion, as many of the other reviews said it is. It ends quite abruptly, obviously setting you up for the next book. I don't think it was worth the sixteen bucks I paid for it, I feel a bit cheated for the price. I wouldn't mind listening to the rest of the books in the series, (it's not awful, a decent story line) however I don't think they'd be worth the price. I'd pay maybe eight bucks for it, but not seventeen. I also would have liked it to be narrated with a little more emotion.

Best Zombies EVER!

Would you listen to Day By Day Armageddon again? Why?

This book is very well written, very well thought out, expertly presented. I'm no stranger to the sci-fi or zombie genres and this one straddles the two perfectly. The author has actual Air Force experience and this serves to bring his voice to new heights in reality. As we all know: the more you intertwin reality within fiction the better the fiction!

Who was your favorite character and why?

The main character and I share a birthday (Jan 29) - whats not to love? He is bad-ass, he is brave beyond reason, he's a freaking pilot. He is amazing.

Which scene was your favorite?

I won't spoil it for you but expect some serious moments on the marina...

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Loved it, loved it, loved it.

Any additional comments?

I've already gifted copies to three frieds - what more can I say?

Great short story

Great story written well just way too short. Stops abruptly. Not sure if there is a second book but maybe that's why. This has no resolution.

The Brightest Store

why does it say a review is option and then it says it's required? if not all of the upper cap with the timing advanced to second when side.

Surprisingly good read

Would you listen to Day By Day Armageddon again? Why?

I can't quite figure out why I enjoyed the first two books in this series so much (I haven't heard/read the third yet). On one hand, there is nothing that seems particularly novel about this particular end of the word, zombie thriller. Yet it was a real "page turner." I listened on the way to work and actually looked forward to working so I could listen! I think the story succeeds largely because of the author's good sense of pacing. The story moves along at a normal pace, never plodding. Then, when you might not expect it, the pace picks up--the action, anxiety, mystery, suspense, etc. Just at the right time.

Again, while there is nothing about the overall plot and characters that seem particularly original, the author's craft and story telling are so well done that it's one of most enjoy post-apocalyptic stories I've read in many years.

Author Got Bored and Didn't Finish Story?

The work that Mr/Ms. Bourne did was by-and-large both clever and fun. The "ending" led me to believe that either there is a part two (unannounced) or that S/he got tired of writing the story, There is no ending so don't expect closure.

GREAT BOOK!

Any additional comments?

Loved the book. It caught my attention from the very first.

Fast-paced. Easy to follow. Not too many characters to help lose the reader.

Really enjoyed the book, as well as the narrator.

Read about 90% of the book during my early morning runs.

Recommended.

Day by Day series

Any additional comments?

How I love the Zombie Apocalypse. This is one of my top 10 series in the genre. If not all but most Zombie books are roughly the same. And many reviews on here will mislead you with words like (brings nothing new to the genre or unoriginal story line) which in turn pisses me off. There books about Zombies!!! If you change much more then Speed of the zombies or how they came about then there not ZOMBIES anymore. Alright that said Book 1&2 are great full marks If your a fellow zombie lover it's a must have. Unfortunately book 3 makes me want to puke, not that it's not alright, it is OK. But next to the first two books it looks like a steaming pile.
